  • Next-D 325 Blades

Saw Rob Blake today (EvolutionRC) - top bloke by the way

He handed me some new 325 blades made by Next-D (Curtis Youngblood) which follow along the same principal of the Radix Stick Banger range. In this case the blade is as light and rigid, but with the C or G further out making them more responsive on the cyclics. I currently fly the 600mm Radix Stick Bangers and love them.

I only had 1 flight with them but I was very impressed. They are quite quiet blades, but very efficient with plenty of bite in they air, feel very rigid and tracked perfectly. The blades were perfectly balanced and I can't wait to fly them more.

In fairness I don't expect there to be a lot of difference between these and the standard 325 Radix, but I'm going to a back to back test this week(weather allowing) to see how they compare.

It'll be nice to hear your thoughts on these blades Richie, especially in how they differ from Radix.

      Cheers,

Yesterday I went out for a couple of hours with the Beam E4 to compare the Radix 325s with these Next-D Stick banger type blades.

First off I flew the Radix and as always you notice the smooth and predicatable way they fly. I'm a bit a V blade fan but since owning the Beam I've been flying Radix325s. The Radix are not quite as locked as the Vs but a little more forgiving and much quieter. You can 3D with them great and as a sports blade hard to fault so a bit of a jack of all trades really.

One the downside they are not the best autoing blade, but then again there is very little point in autoing 450 sized models apart from the 'crack' of doing it, also even Vs only give you an extra second of hang time at the expensive of getting very pitchy on the decent.

Anyway I then went out with the Next-D 325 and immediately noticed they seemed even quieter, only getting noisy under full pitch. They sound more efficient all the way through the pitch range which in my opinion is a good thing. Noisier blades are most often draggier blades which may have some merit on larger models but on 450 classed machines they mean less flight time if you are agressive.

The real advantage comes from the way the blade responds to cyclic input. Presumably to do with the C of G the Next-Ds are extremely quick under cyclic inputs, so for instance Airleron tick tocks are easier to hold steady. Even during four point tick tocks with nose left/rotor wash down head didn't bog as easily.

I have no idea of the spec of these blades in terms of weight and where the C of G is. That information is for men with brains the size of Leicester and for people who collect spoons. All I care about is how they make the heli feel and respond and I'm not giving these blades back

                  Conclusion:

Pros: Very quiet, very locked in, ideal 3D blade
Cons: No pop to the blade if you like Vs

Standard tails and paddles. Motor is the scorpion 2221-8 14T pinion. TH curve is 100 100 100 100 100. Running around 3250 on the head.

This was the same setup a couple of months ago: [ame="http://www.vimeo.com/1920361"]Richie Clark flying the Beam E4 on Vimeo[/ame]

I've got some Stubz (Paddles) to try on it but I've not fitted them yet.
