Rave 450

Hi got a second hand rave 450 which is getting the better of me as it is very unstable in the hover
Almost wants to do it's own thing left ,right ,backwards,forwards .is set up for 4s with a scorpion 10 motor and 350 blade .have been through the heli fitted new main shaft fethering shaft the only thing I can find is a small amount of slop in the washout levers ,apart from that everything is ok ,any ideas would be good cheers.

Proberly setup, there generally pretty stable, meant to be good for F3C, paddles, and do they have weights on them

Yes weights on the flybar, all my other helis that i fly and built and set up from scratch hover hands off and have set this heli the same way that i have set the others up so should be the same .

So is it just that it feels very twitchy, as in very fast cyclic response, that makes it difficult to hover? There are two main things that would come into play; 1. The hardness of the dampers, 2. The flybar ratio / weight of the paddles. Without seeing it there's really no way to troubleshoot.

If the mechanical setup is correct then it's a matter of either adding some expo in the TX or the possibility of a servo that is malfunctioning or something.

The problem is that in the hover its very unstable unlike my other helis that will come upinto the hover and just sit there but the rave comes up into the hover and just wants to shoot off in any direction it can without any input and yes it has fast cyclic response i have put in some dr and expo to calm it down ,the dampers are not a great design as they are only rubber o rings,

It's hard to say without seeing it. Maybe you can get someone to shoot a short video.

Where do you fly BTW?

The Rave is certainly capable of being extremely stable for its size, as a matter of fact Mark Christy actually entered an F3C comp once with the Rave 450 as he didn't have any other helis with him and he didn't come last! (keep in mind all the others in the comp were .90 size F3C machines)

After a year and a half I got the rave out of the back of the wardrobe and blown the dust off it and have converted it to fbl to give it another chance fitted a kbar seems pretty good sets up like the mini vbar and it comes with pro software worth a shot .

The Rave450 is a nice heli. It's a bit fragile but I enjoyed flying mine. Spares are the main issue, I still have a few that I'm holding onto incase I decide to get another

It's all ready to go now fingers crossed it will be good. Don't know if anyone still flys this heli.

Plenty still fly the Rave, but spares now need to be imported so it's not a cheap heli to crash now. It's very smooth though, really nice when set up right.
