Watched the videos back and the second seems to highlight the problem I have - the gear hits a certain spot and meshes really tightly....

My tail case looks like the newer part so I will run some tape around the bearing area inside the tail - also noted the fact any grass causes issues too, so I rather suspect the velocity 90 tail will help in that regard too

Also make sure you keep your bevel gears lubed up, I cant stress how important this is with the fusion and new gears. Any oil or grease will do just slap some on there.

      Very important, Don't forget

        I will remember

Did some work tonight. Pinned the tail properly, drilling through the boom and using a longer screw as the small one supplied doesnt really hold it.

Also went and put the set RPM onto the CC with 3 headspeeds in, 1950/2050/2100 and reduced the gov gain to "low" (15) as reading up seems that above 12 seems to give issues?

I am keeping my fingers crossed the longer tail and replacement gears arrived tomorrow for take 3 - remembering the grease

Well in case anyone else is interested or struggles with the same issues. We have two flights and no issues, what a lovely gorgeous helicopter to hover too.

So what did I do apart from follow the great advice on here and various threads across the internet?

Fitted a velocity 90 tail fin (needed one hole drilling)
          Pinned the tail properly
Loosened up the tail blades slightly
Boiled the black gears for 5 mins
          Oiled up the bevel gears
Set the CC set RPM up

The tail makes a huge difference in height at the rear and doesnt look out of place, I am very happy with this. The set rpm did the trick nicely, running normal at 1950 for hover practice, packs were cool and motor was "warm" but not overly so.

I ran for 4 mins 30 secs (my previous 20% benchmark) and so far both sets of packs are showing 58/60% fuel left on the PL6!!

So I rather suspect the headspeed was far too high and on take off my inexperience was resulting in tail/grass contact with the inevitable results.

So thanks everyone!! Hopefully case closed and I can get on with learning to fly again now...turns out I can still hold a hover tail in though

Well - thats 8 flights now and going really well. Need to grease up the gears properly again but really happy with it so far.

I am finding it quite twitchy though and obviously need to play with the 3gx settings a bit to dull it down ever so slightly. Managed some side on hovering both sides.

Timing it @ 1950 RPM looking so far like 6 minutes has me putting in a mere 1400 mah back into the 3300 batteries. So a safe 7 minute gentle hover which I am delighted with.

Also looking better on the parts front

They appear to be doing aftermarket gear and upgrades, which is really promising as I REALLY love the way this thing flies....even as a noob is just feels right.

I'm very pleased to hear it's working well now. I guess I was lucky with my kit as I had no trouble with the gears so I had nothing but good experiences with mine. (the only minor exception being due to the fit of the Fusuno frames that I elected to use instead of the stock frames.) Hopefully the support and spares will pick back up.

TBH I dont think the black gears mesh well at all - that combined with my poor take off skills in longer grass, lack of greasing and bye bye gears :-)

I rather suspect the upgrade bug will bite me soon and I can see the CNC boom mount being on the list as its easier to replace gears with if they do fail.

Next on my list is a new power supply as the PL6 I got has been throwing up weird issues and finding a flying field thats local!

That tail box looks like a nice upgrade, I may order one myself.

I love flying my fusion to, there's just something about it when it's in the air. My G4 is nice but the fusion just sits right.

Feels great - I am getting a flight a night in a field behind the house just hovering and itching to do more with it :-)

I cant see me looking for anything else really for what I plan on doing !

May add a 450 to the fleet but TBH I can see me just enjoying this.
