  • The Outrage 550 lives!

    Last weekend I maidened my recently-aquired Outrage 550. This weekend, after some ESC
    changes, head setup changes and a bigger pinion, I flew it again and I'm really liking it

    It's a mystery to me why Outrage seems to have sidelined the 550.

    The rotorhead is very good, almost identical to the Velocity head but slightly smaller.
    You can go from crazy fast to super smooth. (we're talking flybarred here, but for those
    of us still using the sticky out things, this is a very good rotorhead).

    Current setup is;
    Castle Ice 100 using 6s 5000mah packs
    Hacker A40 10L 'electric turbine' 1100kv, 14 tooth pinion
    Futaba 9252s on swash, GY401 gyro and Savox SH1290 servo
    NHP 550 mains

    From today at the field (before getting rained on and being miserable);

    Mark E said that to me a few months back,we dont know why but we suspected it was because they have the fusion 50 that has succeeded it as bigger electrics are more desirable now?

    Now get rid of the sticky out bits
    T- rex 600n V-bar
    Logo 550sx V-bar
    Logo 600sx V-bar
    Logo 600sx V-bar night flyer

    VBControl, but not the gay white version as i'm simply not gay enough to pull it off!

      I would have thought after the success of the Trex 550 they would see there's a very viable market for
      the slightly smaller than .50 size and very little competition in that class.

      But conversely maybe they see it as totally dominated by the Align, I don't know.

      Anyway I really like the way it flies so for the moment the flybar is staying on. But we'll see, I
      still have a BeastX on an Ely.Q Ultimate I was going to retire and just haven't decided
      whether to take it apart or just start flying it again and see if I still like it.

        The Fusion 50 has a 550 conversion coming out imminently. I saw it on helidirect just the other day.
        Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
        Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

          Ah, so they're killing two birds with one stone. Amusingly, I was reading some posts on Helifreaks from a couple years ago
          about how some guys had converted their 550s to .50 size using parts from the Velocity.

            Just to update this thread a bit. I now have the 550 flying so nicely I just feel compelled to mention it

            A while back I had a stripped main gear and in hindsight I think this was due to the mesh being too tight but after that I ordered the Fusion main gear and 12 tooth pinion which has been working very well. I think now the governor gain is just about right. I have a pair of TT 550s which fly much better than the NHPs I had on it before and today I replaced the Ely.Q paddles with Hirobo Sceadu paddles and now it is even more well behaved and the cyclics feel smoother. I have been flying with 6.20 on the timer and only drawing about 60% (max) so I will be slowly bumping up the flight times and see how it goes. I am lovin it.
