  • Outrage 550 canopy

    Hi All

Where can I get hold of a standard Outrage 550 canopy?
I have a Hurricane 550, using 4000Mah batteries, and the standard canopy is a tight fit.
Saw a picture of a Hurri, fitted with a Outrage canopy. Looked pretty, and a lot wider.
Would like to try one, but all I can find is Fusano, very smart, but a little pricey for a try out.
    Anyone help?

    Thanks

Blimey, there is more than one person who flies the Outrage 550?!

        Hi
Thanks DRM, really after a plain ( cheap) one. It's only for an experiment.

Sacko, not quite sure what you mean. I have a Hurricane 550, just looking for an Outrage canopy.

          Ah, that explains it.

I knew no-one else would fly them!

            Hi Sacko

Always thought the Outrage was a good little heli, was I wrong?

Out of interest, I bought my Hurricane at a show yonks ago, kitted it out with cheap electrics, and it has been as good as gold.

            Have a look at this

YouTube - Bobby Watts Flying GAUI Hurricane 425 plastic kit @ Taiwan (1)

Wonder how many helis he got through before he perfected his display. Having said that, since Rossendale Models

Welcome to RossMod, the web's model store!

Have these kits at £59, perhaps he could afford it.

            Cheers

I feel a bit left out at our club everyone's Malign Fan Boys these days

No worries mate, you'll be hard pushed to fine a plain O550 canopy

Right with you there, Dave. Score one for the rebels.
In fact, the only Align I have in the fleet is an ancient 450X, long ago converted to CCPM.
Got a couple of clones, but they don't count.
All I see is adverts for fancy canopies. Surely loads of people have bought these, and have the original gathering dust somewhere.

                  Cheers

Whirly bird - try a Trex 550 one - these are on my Hurri 550 (using the H425XF frame), these are HobbyKing canopies - one was $11 and the other $12

                      Hi Mikej

                      Thanks for that, good thought.
Couple of questions. On your H425XF frame, how are the batteries arranged?
I have the standard, over/under, originally using two 2800 3s in series. Worked well, but I needed more duration. Got a couple of these

which work a treat, but they are rather wide and flat. Using the original canopy, the lower battery bulges the canopy out at the front corners. Is the 550 canopy a little wider in the nose area?
Like very much the look of those canopies on yours. From personal taste only, do you think I could lower the back end a little. Change the slight nose down look.
Any thoughts whether I would have space problems if I did.
The white canopy in your picture, is that a standard Trex 550 or a Hurricane 450?

                      Thanks for your help.

I now use one 6S pack rather than 2 x 3S packs - but when I used 3S packs I used them as a "block" on the H425XF frame - i.e. both together side by side. The T550 canopy is quite a bit bigger then the Gaui canopies in the right areas so I would say that you've got a good chance of getting your batts in there (no guarantees obviously), I think that you could probably drop teh back a bit.

The white canopies are a Fibreglass Hurricane 550 canopy and a Fibreglass H425XF canopy.
