  • Outrage 550 first test

Well managed to get a quick hover test in the back garden tonight on the outrage just as the light was going, after fitting the cyclics in.
All ok and seemed to be working well, can't wait to get it down the field and give it a proper workout.
Was a easy build and if this is the standard the 50 and 90 will also be a joy.
    Well done outrage
    James

Took it for it's first proper flight tonight and bar tight links was flying superb, handled everything i threw at it all up to about 2 mins in to the flight when i tested the auto capability when the pinion came loose, knew i should of put a flat on the motor shaft, thats the job for tomorrow.
Need to also up the gyro gain as it was a bit low but didn't effect the flight to much.
All in all felt a superb machine, flew more like a 50 size, hopefully tomorrow i will put a couple of batterys through it

I had a pinion coming loose on mine, too. I replaced the stud screw with a longer one.
Also, the scorpion motor shaft is quite soft. It was easy to grind a flat spot.

excellent, sounds like it's going well so far. You will love the way it does 3D, so quick and nimble.

Mine arrived yesterday after I picked it up from the couriers who called while we were out on Thursday, typical!

The build went very well, no issues with the kit. I notice that there was a black tail pulley in the main parts bag plus a separate white pulley in it's own bag, I fitted the white one as I assumed it was an upgrade. Radio gear was nice & easy to fit and it was basically finished last night, just a few jobs to sort out this morning. I'm using the Ace motor for the Raptor E550 which is a Z30-1100 under the skin. I've fitted a 14T pinion and running it up last night without main or tail blades, 100% throttle is around 2800rpm! I know this will come down under load but even with the blades fitted I'm guessing headspeed will be too high. I did run it withan 11T pinion fitted and only got 1900rpm so I reckon a 13T would be the way to go.

Only problem with the kit was that there were no grommets provided for the canopy, I'm guessing an oversight somewhere so I just used some I have in stock.

The white one is the upgrade steve correct.
Also i would recommend getting a bando belt from blink, there have so called been issues with the standard one
I am running an 11t pinion but that is because i am running the top spec scorpion, i expect the head speed will be about 2300ish at 80% throttle, and it seemed to be about spot on for the 2 mins i flew it
Will do some better testing this weekend

I've read about the Bando belts, same as the one recommended as an upgrade for the Logo 500 I seem to remember. I tested the headspeed at 70% throttle and it was still around the 2400rpm mark.

Well managed to give the outrage a better test fly the weekend, did have an issue with the speed controller as i accidently bought the wrong one that was 75amps and went into safe mode after 3 mins but up to that was with messing around with the setting, very fast cyclics, so tamed them down and probably needs a bit more taming, tracks an excellent line and feels like a 50 size, loads of power, running maniac blades on mine that are pretty stiff, real shame they don't make radix in 550mm's
Be nice when the links have bedded in properly and when my new 100amp speed controller turns up i will be able to finish the setup this friday

I had one problem at ridiculously insane mental headspeed: the damper spacers shredded the dampers after only a couple of flights.
The heli was fun to fly, though... flips almost as fast as it piros
But that's IMO the limiting factor towards higher headspeed, the dampers can't take it.
I used also upgrade dampers for the T-Rex 600 (same size). They show some sign of wear, but not as badly as the stock ones.

Outrage do a hard 3D damper should you need those for higher headspeeds and 3D.

I've heard of a black damper, but haven't found it in any shop.
The upgrade T-Rex dampers seem to last, but they are expensive.
