    Dunno Ashley

Out of choice I would choose Kontronik every time but their after sales does generally suck as the bad ESC's seem to always be user error rather than dodgy manufacturing

I'd not touch Hobby Wing with a barge pole unless your idea of very soft start is instant spool up like it is on my Atom

I'm working with Hobbywing on the soft start issue, it's slow going but I think they have got the point.

        Cool

I bet the revised firmware will not be backward compatible though

Why not use an align ESC off a 600e?

I thought the Jive 80a HV or LV were not best for a heli that size on 6s as the Amp draw could exceed its limits. There are many reports of them powering down inflight or getting the flashing fault light after flight.

I was advised to go for a 100lv if you intend to stay 6s or better still for the same money get the 80hv and go 8 or 10s.

My needs are for the Logo 500 to replace the Align ESC i am using at present i am totally unsure what info is right or wrong i hasten to add.

Thought that myself, is 75A and i am not sure if it needs the extra 5 amps the others offer

A note of the Align 75A,mine is over 2 years old and was used with various motors on my 600E for 3d and with a Scorpion 4020 and now a Z50A 1150 on my Logo 500 and TBH the thing has been bulletproof.

I just want an integrated BEC really, hence the wish to go Jive.

it's a good point, the Align 100A ESC is reasonably good, I've never managed to fry one.
No governor but to be honest the 550 doesn't really need it as it's got plenty of power.

Does mean you need a separate BEC though.

                      Picked mine up today

Well went to blink this afternoon and pick my 550 up, got most of the bits i need come through also.
Just like to say a big thanks to Rupert, had a good chat and refunded me all my postage as i collected, he checked the kit out to make sure it had the couple of new parts in it and gave me a modified belt as it had the old type in, and a couple of other pressies, also i took on another batt for my tx that i then paid for when i got home, so cheers mate, and his shop is an aladins cave of special bits. also hoping to get down there sometime for a fly, maybe when the outrage is finished so hopefully next weekend.

cool James, I look forward to hearing how impressed you are with the way it flies (I hope), it really is a sweet heli to 3D. I'm hoping to demo mine up at the Midland fly-in.

whatever you do..... do not ream the ball links, just fit them, they will be tight......two flights later they will be perfect and stay that way.

Mine had its first "real" flight today.
Not too bad I think me and this heli will become good friends.
                              it's ridiculously powerful...

I seem to remember reading somewhere that you could set up the 550 for 140degree swash plate and it certainly has the setup on the swash but the connections to the bellcranks will be at an odd angle and there's no alternative mount for them - was the 140 degree idea canned early on?

Oh, and by the way, a big thanks to Ash for sorting out the videos on Outrage-Tuning.com, what clean fingernails he has
