My New MSH Protos

Well Fast Lad came through and it was delivered yesterday, So i set about starting to build it after work last night and finished it off today

Spec:

Protos Carbon Edition, With ESC, Motor and SAB Blades
Orange Fins
Hitec HS-85MG Cyclics
Align DS520 Tail
AR7200BX FBL Controller
Turnigy 6s 2650mah Batts (when they turn up)


First impressions are very good, Nice well made components that all fitted straight together with no problems at all.
Only Ball ache was the FBL Head conversion as it comes with no instructions at all!! Just a bag of bits
But after a little googling i found that the Mini Protos FBL head is almost identical so just followed the instructions loosly for that and hey presto one FBL Head

I've gone through the set up using one of my 450 batteries and Im literally now waiting for the 6s batteries to arrive and the weather to be good enough to take her out for the Maiden

Looks good. Could you run 2 450 size batteries through a series cable to avoid having to wait for the 6s batteries? I wouldn't have the patience to wait!

Some one has sown a seed with me today regarding my 500 project.I had never even considered a protos until it was mentioned earlier today.
Let us know how you get with it.

I had considered several 500-550 size heli's before going with the Protos, Part of the deciding factor is when i want to move to a larger heli i can get a 'Stretch Kit' for the Protos so it swings 470mm blades instead of the 425mm's and you get everything needed in a kit for £91

Has anyone tried one against a FBL Trex 500 back to back? Or maybe had both?

I've had both . I couldn't fly much then though so all I remember was it being very light but very stable at the same time, and it make a very nice noise too compared to a Trex 500.

As you know I just bought another - also going to try a VBar this time as I got a black 5.3 pro one quite cheap . Only problem is that I now need to get get a fullsize receiver for it as it is not the sat ready version so space might be an issue.

That's good to know as I too have been contemplating 500/550 class helis and was firmly fixed on the 500e pro but now "the cat has truly been thrown amongst the pigeons".
They are very well thought of both here and across the pond.

Well what can i say except AWESOME :thumbup:
Made up 2 of my old 450 packs into 6s's to get her out for a test flight, Although its a little foggy i just couldn't resist lol

Absolutely rock solid in the air and what a noise this thing makes

Only done 2 packs through it but already know this was a good choice of heli

Only getting about 3:30 out of them before cut, but they are 2 year old 2200mah's so not too bad.

Got 4 x 2650's on their way, just wish they were here now lol

Ok here's a vid of my 2nd pack through the Protos (slightly dodgy vid admitedly lol, recorded on my phone and it was having issues focusing in the fog)

All the BeastX settings in this vid are totally stock which is why the roll rate is slow, But for the 3rd pack i turned the Cyclic Response up and upped the rates on my Tx and now she flips on the spot no problem at all
