  • MSH Protoc CF

Just found out MSH will be releasing a new Carbon protos in jan/feb 2009 Full CF frame and new CNC Metal blade grips and still 275g less than a trex 500!

    No price as yet

sounds pretty nifty! CF conversion kits will be available for current protos owners to upgrade if they wish price TBC

The support and evoloution of this Heli is fantastic !

I've yet to fly the Protos... soon hopefully!
I have weighed the Protos and the Trex500 - one after the other - and comparing their ready to fly weight (using the same electrics and LiPo) the Protos was pretty much 190 grams lighter.
It's a heck of a lot (weight being the enemy of flight etc) but it's not the claimed 300 grams I've heard thrown about

I just thought it would be worth posting this info
      Cheers,
      Rob

Guess its down to the kit u use, the hitec 5245 is the standard servo for the trex 500 ive got them in the protos but they are very big for it and only just squeeze in, using smaller servos such as hs-85 (cheaper option) is i guess where u save the weight.

I think the saving is also its 300g lighter with no electrics!

Rob said that the electrics were the same in the 2 so thats that ruled out. I would like to fly a protos though, to see for myself the difference in the air

From what I've seen of them flying, it's amazingly fast!
I can well believe it too as the Trex500 is quick, and the Protos is 190g lighter - not a small amount

            Cheers,
            Rob

When you consider that the Protos is running 450 size Gorilla paddles the speed of the cyclic response is even more amazing. I took the brass weights out of mine when I built it, I've now put half the weight back in each side as my reflexes weren't fast enough!

I've got HS85mg's in mine and they do a good enough job.

yes you have Rob, you tried mine at the MK flyin and you didnt like it
mind you it werent setup anyware near right, and the flight after it met the ground

but yes it was a damn site faster and more powerfull than a 500

it promises so much if they can get a few top quality pilots onboard to promote it
Why is the ground to high

Now I've actually seen one it looks pretty good but I can see the fragility that people have talked about and I'm glad I have a T-Rex even if it's a fraction heavier

People get too hung up on weight. It's how it flies that is important !!
