  • Protos 500 canopy solutions

    Morning all,

so yesterday i managed to break off one of the end tabs of my Protos 500 canopy where the canopy crommet is (hope that makes sense), even though i had epoxied this for added strength. So i'm looking for ideas of how to avoid this in the future, so i'm thinking may be on of the following:

    a) replacement canopy with *better* strengthening
    b) using magnetic canopy mounts
    c) was taking a look at the polycarbonate version, but i'm guessing that this more brittle than fibreglass

Anyone use any of the above or has a recommendation?

    Cheers all

    Daz

Fusuno canopies are much tougher than the stock ones. OK a little heavier, but not enough to notice.

Yeah - Fusuno are good and you can choose any design from their range - not just the ones they advertise against your particular model.

You can buy direct from their website or email "sales@fusuno.com" to request a custom design (at no extra cost). Shipping is a bit pricey at $35USD to the UK, but the canopies are usually cheaper than stock, so it's swings and roundabouts.

        Daz,

I've heard that the polycarbonate canopies are almost unbreakable - I really like them personally. I tend to re-enforce my canopy "ears" - I used to use the washing instruction labels from shirts / underwear soaked in CA as the re-enforcement, I recently bought some fibre-glass cloth to use now.

I'm tempted by some of the magnetic mounts as well - just too tight to pay for them .

        Cheers,
        Mike.

          Thanks for the tip, Mike.

Yeah, Fusuno are quite a bit stronger than stock ones, also a little bit bigger so they are a better fit.
