  • Protos 500 - Align blades won't fold back

On my Protos 500 CF (stock FBL) I'm having trouble folding back the main blades because the feathering shaft bolt is getting in the way.
I've found an old thread on RR saying I need to use 'new style button head' bolts. Can someone point me to the correct part or part# cause I'm sick of carrying it around with the blades out.

    cheers

I think i had a similar problem when i had my protos so never kept the blades on.....maybe just go to you local engineering fixings place and just get some dome headed bolts the same size just make sure there the correct tensile strength
    cheers Lee

Cheers for the reply Lee - I was starting to think nobody would answer so I went ahead and bought these: Quick UK M3x10 High Tensile Button Head Screws M3x10BH
I don't have tensile strength figures for either stock FS bolts or these but I'm hoping they will do the trick since they specify 'high tensile' in the description. I've put them in already and can now fold my blades back so, will just have to keep an eye on them and hope they hold up okay.

I had a similar problem and just filed a bit off the blades where they fouled the screws. It only took about half a millimetre to clear them.

I was going to say the same as Mike. I needed to file a bit more and then a put a bit of epoxy over the filed bit to finish the job.

Cheers guys - I might have a look at doing that since I'm not that comfortable using the new bolts I bought. If its just a couple of mm then I'll do it.

            cheers
