  • Considering a max v2 build

I am considering a max for my next build
I only sport fly so the question is
Would it fly ok with just a 3.5kW motor and a kontronik jive pro 120 ? Or is it to heavy for that low spec

    Hi

I'm building one up to when they come back into stock.

I will be using a Kontronik pro 120HV with heat sink on mine and will either use the MSH branded motor (4530 500) or a equivalent spec one.

    Hope this helps

Well if the jive can cope with that kind of motor,
Maybe I will use the align 800mx that I have spare.

I know that a 700mx with a 120A esc can also be used. If i am going to build one, i will use those.

          Hi

Im looking at the Align 800MX motor too. The 120HV should be a good match for that motor (520kv).

To add, this combo with 690-695mm blades, preferably Cyclone's.

It all depends on how you intend to fly it. It's a big, solid lump of a machine but it doesn't need tons of power to perform well.

If you want to smack it about like Tamas then you'll find it lacking, if you want to just do big smooth aeros and mild 3d then chances are it will work just fine.

You can see my spec in my signature but i am only using 30c turnigy lipos and 1800-2000rpm headspeed.

I was only doing 1300rpm the other day nice relaxing flying. Landed at 8:00 mins with 40% still left. Still does everything just slower.

The Triabolo is a big heavy 'ole thing and it works really well on a very modest power setup (unless you wanted Nick Maxwell type smack performance).

What does the V2 weigh? It looks light - I can't see where the weight is.

The weight is due to the fact it is big. Everything is chunky. It's not a light frame but boy is it solid. Lots of options too run from a 700 up to 810. I would say mine is a decent setup but no extras so weight wise pretty light compared to some. Mine comes in at 5.55kg. My Tri JR Ito in comparison which swings 3 x 720mm blades comes in at 4.8kg and its lovely to fly. Protos is a beast but sometimes nice to fly a thoroughbred.
