By the way it's a buckets one, obviously. He wasn't to keen on doing the matte finish, but he did in the end, not to sure on the reason maybe Phil could explain.

I'm beginning to like matt finishes ! In Germany there seems to be a lot of cars going the same way !

Ordinary gloss canos can just be wiped clean and given a rub down at the end of the day.

With a matt finish (and this applies to cars and everything else painted to a matt finish), they can only be wiped lightly with a clean cloth, and that's not the only problem...............

When spraying, it is usual (even in the cleanest of booths and with the cleanest of equipment), to get the odd little bit of dried lacquer or dust or some other foreign body, land on your work. This is easily remedied by wet-sanding out, and if its the last clear to go on, then just polishing out. BUT.........with a matt coat, as soon as the last coat of clear has gone on, you cannot touch it again. So if there's a nib in it, it stays..........forever. Alternatively, you sand it out and go round the loop again, until you achieve the ultimate clear coat, which is perfect and has no defects in it at all. Its just how many attempts you give it before you give up and accept that perfection can only be strived for, but never achieved. IMHO

Man, that looks the mutts nuts. But I'd not like to fly it too far away or on a dull day, it's already a 50% silhouette . Like it though.

No I haven't shown Oswestry Phil these jobs, but I did speak to him about spraying the matt.

I already have a custom built spray booth with a "bifurcated" (I just love that word) fan in it.

                            Cheers
