New "DIABOLO S" are you ready !

Well as luck would have it , I have managed to get a brand new DIABOLO S direct from Minicopter. As you may not know these were built as a Ltd edition and only 50 of them will ever be made.
Mine is Number 47 !
Im just patiently waiting for DHL to turn up just after lunch to deliver it ! I will be doing a full build thread over the next few weeks and once built using it a various flyins for speed demos ! Picture to follow once it gets here !

Nice! How did you manage to get hold of one of them? Being only 50 I thought they would of all been sold! C'mon then what set up you gonna run?

As if !" I now have another Diabolo S in bright Orange No53, this will be running a similar set up to No47 although the Pyro 850-50 im running im going to try and get it wound up a bit to give me a little more umph lol as if it needs it . Then I need to find a really big flying field to practice at .
I did a brief run at the 3D Champs in September that didn't go to well as I had never flown it there before and it was really limited on space believe it or not. I have found that you really need to get use to the flying space available for a while before you commit to going full chat or maybe that's just me ! Flying in front of a crowd also makes me nervous which isn't good lol !

Over the last few months Ive also noticed a big increase with manufacturers now producing speed helicopters, we really need an event for this next year at a suitable venue.

Yeah I was suitably impressed with Paul's speed TDR at Whitehorse and the distances involved, you need a very long unobstructed space like they have for F3C, only longer.

Just curious though, what's the Diabolo S like for just normal flying around, mild 3D etc? I love the look of them but I don't have any interest in doing speed flying myself. (I love the Triabolo, to me it's right alongside the TDR as near to perfect as I can imagine)

It flies very well at a low head speed 2100 and is very stable in the air , you just need to get used to the shape as its difficult when turning it round because of how thin the body is .
However its not set up like anything else I have, the vBar NEO is set at 50 style and the agility is down to 65 ish , also the tail gain is about 50 and you have to hold full right rudder on spool up to stop it spinning etc . Negative pitch is -7 degrees and full positive is +16 degrees and with a head speed of 2600 it really does get away from you very quickly and is a handful to fly at the best of time . The adrenalin rush is something else lol !

Gerd at Minicopter decided to release another 10 kits as he had loads of spare parts available . So now there is 60 worldwide which still makes it a little exclusive lol ! However I was a little disappointed when he announced it a few months back

Yeah earlier this year Gerd announced he was making another dozen or so kits due to high demand, so I don't know how many there are in total but a bit more than 50 anyway. ---- I was writing just as Rob was posting--- so 60 now.
