  • Hello

Hi guys, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Brian James and I'm the General Manager for Miniture Aircraft USA. I really want to try to connect with the U.K. and European r/c helicopter community, and my good friend David Nolan sent me this way. We are really trying to show everyone the "New" Miniature Aircraft USA. If anyone doesn't know, last year Miniature Aircraft USA was purchased by FlyCo, who also happens to own HeliProz, Ron's HeliProz South, and HeliWholesaler. Since then we have made the move to our new location, and we have released two brand new "50" size models, the Fury 55 (nitro) and the Furion 6 (electric).

I have realized that Miniature Aircraft USA has a reputation for expensive, complex models that are difficult to obtain spare parts for, and that reputation is not entirely unfair for our older models. I am determined to change that! We are commited to high quality, U.S. made models with spares that are readily available. Right now, we have several dealers in the U.K. carrying the new models and are stocking all the spare parts.

We are always going to be a little bit more expensive than some other brands, that is just a fact of manufacturing in the U.S., but we feel that the value is in the quality.

I plan to spend some time on this forum, and will try to help anyone the best that I can.

      Welcome to the forum Brian.

Always good to get manufacturer support on here.

I have to admit that the latest models from MinAir look very tempting. Its been a few years since I had a MinAir as the last one I had has a Fury Extreme.

Furion 6 FBL is on my maybe list when I go electric next year!

I used to love my X-cell 99se....however for reasons I won't put in public. I refuse point blank to repair it.....and it isn't a case of not wanting to spend the money on it either.

Wow, talk about a warm welcome. Thanks guys!

-streetdragster, I think you're going to like it. The Fury 55 is a really cool heli.

-biggles, I'd be curious to know what you mean. Believe me I do understand a lot of the frustration people had with the older models. Luckily, our new designs are a vast departure from what used to be! Simplicity, and quality are what we are all about now!

Here's Bobby showing off the Furion 6:

and you can check it out on our website:

My purpose here wasn't really to spam the site, but just rather offer my help, and any information I can. You can always get me at brian.james@miniatureaircraftusa.com as well.

                  Welcome to the forum!

It's always nice to see more and more heli manfacturers connect with the forums! Glad to see MA opening up more in the UK!

I noticed you kept the e-clip though - someone with a sense of humour!

Tip for anyone putting the e-clip on....empty the room, sweep and vacuum, empty vacuum cleaner and remove all clothing, parts tools etc..leave just you, a table, the pin and clip and a piece of corrugated cardboard and a toffee hammer in the room...

Now if you get lucky then you might just find you can put the pin over the clip on the cardboard and get it first time with the hammer..pin pops through, pierces card and job done.....

OR...after losing both spare clips, carefully brushing you hair and hairy bits, crawl around the room hoping for a glint of sunlight on metal and luck with a wet finger in picking it up. OR vaccuum again and empty the bag acrefully OR get out that magnet you thoight wuld be easy and carefully go over the whole room .. then under the door, the hallway, the cat....take a valium, lie down...try again..take to drink....

If you do find it the consider a full body shave before the next attempt..it may save some embarrassment at the clinic later..those clips will hide anywhere...

                        Hi Brian,

                        Welcome!

As others have said, its really good to have manufacturers on the forum, it a great way to keep in touch with the grass roots of the hobby!

Great bunch of people here, and imho its far more than just another forum, we really do have a solid community here where we talk about all kinds of stuff.

I'm looking forward to hearing (and seeing) how things are going in your part of the world.

                        Cheers,
                        Simon

What is Bobby running that machine on?

                          I see its either 6s or 10s.

I dont fancy going 10s as I have no 5s packs and would have preferred 12s as I have plenty of 6s packs.

Most are geared for either 6s or 12s due to the simplicity of doubling the 6s packs up. Would this not have made more sense?

Bobby is running 10s 5000 mah. 10s 5000mah makes the model balance really well. The 6s will also fly pretty nicely, (although not the 3d monster that a 10s set up is) but it tends to be just a bit tail heavy with a 6s 5000mah pack.

I can certainly see your point of 12s, and it does work quite well, but with 12s, you're really going to be limited to around 3700mah or so, or the model becomes extremely heavy (and nose heavy).

We do have a new electric "90" size model in the design phase which will use 12s 5000mah packs!
