  • Zagi 480 flying wing

I have a flyingwing sitting in the garage.

My brother wants to fly it, i was planning to use the 1800mah lipo out of the blade

But what motor, esc and prop would be suitable?

    Cheers

    Hi,

I have a Unicorn Flying wing, that runs a Mega 1615/4 with a 7x4 folding prop. This will go vertical and also glide well. You will need a 30/40 amp ESC and a 3s pack (i used a 3300 but use 1615/4's on 2100's.

If you want brushed then i would look at a 480 7.4v motor (you will burn through them) and i was using a 5.5x4.3 or 5.5x4.7.

Keda ThumRun 2837/10 Outrunner Brushless Motor with a 7x5 prop and a 30amp esc like this one Black Mantis 30amp esc speedcontroller

should get you into the air nicely, i'd imagine i was running a similar setup on an edge540 faily quick and powerfull but only around 5mins flying at full throttle, you'd most likely get away with a 6x4 for less current draw on the battery

Cheers, i already have a 25 or 30A esc somewhere and a 2500mah nimh pack for it. but maybe it was the motor however with this setup it wasnt all that powerful!

Where is the best place for brushed motor's?

For a brushed motor i would just go down to your local model shop, you will be paying more in postage then the cost of the motor. any 480 motor would work well in it as i said above, if you go with a lower voltage (7.2 prob minimum) then it will scream when putting 11.1v through it. I have a couple of 480's and props that used but at the price of postage it would be cheaper to buy new from a local shop (if you are local to Leatherhead or slough then drop me a line and im sure we can get you sorted.).

              hi,

BRC do stock them, as does Slough model shop.

Slough RC - Motor Permax 480/7.2V MPX

Not to be taken the wrong way, i think you would need to have the 480 over the 400 (the 400 will work), the 480 should provide a little more power but should take the 3s packs a little better. From my past models, the 400 will burn out too quickly but the 480 holds up a bit longer.
