  • LOGO 500 SE Special Edition

My new logo arrived today, thank you Fastlad!

This is my winter project, I'll be stripping out my Align 550 for the the bits to make it fly.

Any little tips would be most welcome before I start building it?

    Well I'm excited... Lol

Make sure you sand the frame edges to smooth edges, the parts exposed when the frame halves are together. Use good 30 minute non brittle epoxy on the tail boom supports/tail control rod. And don't forget to ground the tail case, to the boom and then to the motor mount.

Depending on your tail servo it might be best to install it into the frames before putting them together.

Nylon bolts/metal nuts for attaching the landing gear is a good idea to hopefully save frame damage in the event of a crash.

Found this ESC for my heli, good price with prog card it came to £150!

YGE 100 Amp ESC Electronic Speed Controller V4 for 149,99 €

YGE 100 Amp ESC Brushless Electronic Speed Controller V4

I've built most of the 500, but slowly working out what else I need, got servo's, motor, now ESC. Waiting for the new Spec+Beastx to arrive.

I'm going to drill through the frame and run the wires inside the frame, yes I know what you are thinking! but it's winter and I'm bored!

A 3Amp bec might not be enough. Go for it. If it shuts down then you know you need a bit more current.

I recently bought a logo 500, I'm planning to do away with regulators for the first time and get a voltz Life from midland helicopters, then feed the electrics directly, benefits are a lot less wires on the bird, I can let the liFe run flat when its not in use without damage and less failure points.

Do you need a special charger for Life bats?

Not really,Depends, most newish Lipo chargers have a Life charge option, I've had my £60 fusion charger for a few years now and it has a Life option. here's one on ebay £20

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplaceheres a few posts on this subject of 'Life and no regulator vs LIpo with regulator' and I cant find any downsides. I hate all the wiring on my other birds.

Looks like Life is an option. Ta

Throw away the crap boom that comes with the stock 500se and use a 25mm boom from the off, there are 2 holes in the gearbox end of the boom that are for the plastic tail gearbox that are not needed as the se has a carbon one, these are a weak point.
If in doubt speak to Noel at midland heli's as he uses, i think one from another model make which will fit minus the unwanted holes.

Thunder Tiger 90 booms and a hacksaw. You just need to sand off the Thunder Tiger branding. You can buy them for pennies from Helikraft and they come in nice plastic tubes for keeping snakes in.

Why would you put a cut down Raptor boom on it?? If you really must put a 25mm boom on it then just put a Logo 600 boom on it as it's made for it. IMO the SE doesn't look right as it's more 600 but with a 500 canopy so it looks unbalanced & will look even more so with the 25mm boom on it.
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

Wrong Paddy, i have the logo 600 boom on mine, just cut to length and it looks so much better, as the thin one looks all wrong.

25mm boom - much better than 20mm. Looks better, is stiffer so works better.

If you want to pay Mikado almost twice the TT price for the same bit of ali tubing, P4ddy, feel free. Nothing wrong with the TT ones. The money I save goes in the tank of my bike, doubling my grins. I don't have a "Mikado" Logo anyway - my frames are Kaos Tech, the head is Outrage fbl, the tail is bitsa, the canopy (when I buy a new one) will be Fusuno, as is the tailfin/gearbox frame.

Flies just as well as the Mikado kit I built.

Yea but it wont look as pretty with an alu coloured boom unless you paint it aswell. I know people used a 90 boom to make a 700, hmmm?? actually it didn't look toooo bad i suppose, ok i guess the penny saving wins this one lol.

Gashead....i didn't realise you cut it down a bit, I forgot the 600 swings slightly longer blades than the SE
