I had agreed with myself (and the wife) that I'd await the 2nd gen v-bar and until I can comfortably fly all of the trimming manouvers needed to set it all up correctly on a flybar'd model. So it's just practise now. Get in...

looks good, now if Mikado can sort out their customer support, spares backup and pricing.. (They want to raise UK pricing by 20% i was told) then they might get somewhere over here. Unfortunately they concentrate heavily on the US market and thats where all the spares etc go first.

They have raised the UK prices. The 500 3d has gone from £278 to £359 on most of the sites.

Shame really because i was about to buy one

If they push the price up that far, I will have to look at something more competitively price. Shame really.

That said, my 500 looks as good as that and it's still in bits - they've totally unusual layouts that make perfect sense when you see them (mine will be at Waterfoot so you're welcome to have a nose at it) no stacked frames or carbon where you don't need it. just two great big clam-shell style frame halves that bolt together. The canopies even feel different to the usual 'bleach bottle' plastic.

yeah i agree that the design of the frames looks great. (futuristic somehow)
most people will say its the function that matters and i'd agree
but we still want our stuff to look good. and i really like the look of the logos

True, although £32 for a canopy made of a thin, cheap material seems a little much to me. They can survive a number of crashes though, they just get more & more crumpled! If the canopies were £15 or so, which seems reasonable for the material they are made of, I could keep a spare or two The one advantage of the canopy is in keeping with the Mikado philosophy, it weighs next to nothing.

Just doing a wee bit more research on the V-Bar stuff as I now have the head in bits on my bench and I must say that the Mini V-Bar looks incredible.

Why so? You can plug two Spekky sattelite receivers directly into it and totally do away with your seperate RX! So there's half the wiring to do and half the weight. It's also able to 'learn' your trimming and flight style and adjust itself to suit.

I'm now just sat here with baited breath waiting on a price and availability of the unit but that'll come soon enough I guess. I was almost on the point of buying the full v-bar setup from fastlads last night but I think I'll wait on this as it sounds incredible!

                          Hi
The new mini vbar as i understand it is intended for small helis (450 class ect) this is the reason behind doing away with the reciver for weight loss.
The full size vbar, there is no change in hardwear, there will just be the new V4 softwear, it sounds like there will be a charge for this software, but the guys on the vbar forums will not say weather there will be a charge or not.
