This is the gyro that I used in my Concept 30, at the moment it is stripped down ready to be rebuilt.
I have the original instructions for this gyro if you need a copy.

Hi David. I would be grateful for the instructions, dont know if you can help me with this but i bought a newly built concept 30 which i am told is a very, very, old model,i have not flown [Planes] for quite sometime due to illness,so i thought i would give the helis ago.
I bought this concept off an old timer its never been flown yet,had no fuel in it,and a brand new irvine 36 motor,4 futaba fp s148 servos, one fp g154 gyro but all i have heard is bad reports about this model from my club, could you give me your opinion.

As mentioned in your other thread the gyro is a old rate gyro and was good in it's day for the Concept. One main problem is spares, there are a few about but getting harder to find. The helicopter in it's day was good many people started on them. nowadays there are far better helicopters to learn on and plenty of cheaper spares. I am rebuilding mine just to fly circuits nothing to much and put it into a Kyosho bell 444 body. The main spare I find hard to get is blades the right size. fitting a newer gyro like a quark or the like will make learning with it a lot easier, but that said there are lots of people in the late 80's and early 90's that learned to fly using the Concept with that set up.

Would try to change out the gyro.. although I learnt to hover with one, the whizzing motors inside it do take alot of power out of the receiver packs and drain them down pretty fast.

Anyone recommend a gyro thats compatable with the servos other than the quark.

I just saw the description of what you had bought in the other thread, I would seriously suggest you set it all on one side and consider learning to fly with something that will be easier to get parts for when you crash, then come back to this nice piece of history once you can fly then enjoy it as a vintage model.

You are going to make things unnecessarily difficult for yourself if you carry on down this path. Not impossible, but for example, the S148 servos you have are slow, analogue and use a bushed output making them a poor candidate for any modern gyro to be driving.

It would be a shame to damage a nice model like this by learning on it.

Mark. I have decided to get a phoenix sim and i have ordered a blade MSR heli to help with the learning curve, I dont intend using the Concept for at least 12months minimum,in between that time i want to kit here out with the right gear,so i would be grateful if you Mark/David or anyone else can guide me to install some different kit as she is a very nice looking heli and of course at a reasonable cost.

                  Cheers

                    Good to hear

Take a look at Futaba S3152 servos to replace the S148 and keep an eye out for either a Spartan 760 or a Quark at a good price, the 760 often goes for £50-60. If they come back into stock, a GT9 from Phoenixtech would be a good choice for a budget gyro.

                    Which transmitter do you have?

Did that come with the heli?

It really isn't suitable for your needs at all, take a look at a Spektrum DX6i

Keep the servos as they are fine for 30 size heli, just change gyro and tail servo.
                            And upgrade to DX6i
