Concept 46 VR

Any one running a Concept 46VR? Just bought one second hand and wondering peoples opinion.

I have a NEXUS which is the American version. but it has only got a smaller engine in. Be carefull with the tail boom they are very soft and bend easy i have changed mine now to a one made of electricians conduit which is very strong. Also made other changes which I can tell you about if you would like to know?

I just bought this heli off ebay, when I was younger I had an original Concept 30 DX but could never fly it. This Concept 46VR seems to have a new Anodized tail boom,Carbon fins,Carbon mainblades,carbon tail blades, Carbon tail driveshaft and Rear mounted tail servo. I thinks its gonna be fairly advanced for me considering I'm only just starting though. I think I'm gonna put on the wooden blades so its a bit more stable while I'm learning. I've just got to get radio gear and a gyro now, probably a CSM sl560 gyro but I'm still not sure about radio gear. So what changes have you made and what radio gear are you running?

The Concept is a far better helicopter than the Nexus - here, spares are easy to get hold of - the only problem I had with the 46 version was no provision was made to harness the extra power - ie the main blades were still the same size.
This means to harness the power you have to add more pitch than is normal otherwise the head speed goes ballistic.
If your flying with a group then the choice of radio should reflect what they are using - this would mean help is always available.

Its sanwa but not a new one i got it from a guy at my local club he gave me chargeable batteries for it as well. I would recomend you get them because normal ones are very expensive. I dont have a gyro yet because i am just hovering so i just have a length of string between the back of the helicopter and fastened to my tool box, this was recomended by a book i got given with the helicopter, it works too and will also stop the thing flying away if i cant stop it. As well as the new tail boom I have modified the blades by coating them with fibre glass resin this makes them very strong.
