  • Kyosho Concept 60 SR

Who still has the above heli?
A friend of mine has offered to sell his to me for £300 and possibly less than 10 flights on it. it's RTF (using futaba servos and possibly a mechanical gyro - year 1993, doubt there was any digital gyro then) with an OS60
thing is, it's got some tiny rusts on the metal parts possibly from poor storage.
I've always loved this heli but could never afford one...
is it a good price? i'm probably just gonna put this on display and not fly it (well, maybe hover it from time to time)
    i'll post a pic tomorrow.

Kyosho helis are still going, and their top end 90 models are some serious kit in the FAI world. The current 50 size machine has a belt drive a bit like the Blitz Avro and a pull-pull dual push rod on the rudder - looks like a nicely engineered heli as well.

It seems whenever you go to 2nd hand sales like Wings'n'Wheels and the Nationals there are always handfuls of Caliber 30s floating around for sale that never seem to sell, and I'm sure it's the same half dozen or so models that have been for sale at all the shows for the past 5 years or more!

They've never really sold big here in the UK, but I think the engineering pedigree is pretty good as it is with all the Japanese stuff (JR, Hirobo etc) so it will probably last for ever and fly just sweet.

Just don't ask about spares availability in the UK.

I got a 60, 60 SR & 60 SR2, I got mine for 100 quid (sr) with loads of new stuff....It's nearly ready to fly again and it looks like new (now). The SR2 I paid 200 quid for RTF and it even had a csm 180 in it.....300 is way to steep and as you say it probably has been badly stored so what state is the engine plus all the other bearings in.

If you want it bad enough you will pay 300 but IMO it is way to pricey.

Hell you can get a rappy 60 with engine for 299 brand new!!!!.

But the end of the day the choice is yours.

hi - thanks for that info...
do you want to sell me your SR II for £300?
can't believe £300 is too much for a 60 SR. i've been looking on ebay but there are none.
oh and where can i get a raptor 60 with engine for that price?
a raptor 60 is something i wouldn't mind having also (i remember staring at it in Hamleys whenever i was there)

            I have a concept 60 airframe I was given!

needs an engine and it'll fly there not worth 300 by any means

And for a raptor 60 with engine for 300 try midlands 1st they had the offer but I've seen others with the offer as well.

sounds like you have already decided to go for it? it is your money after all

if i was forced to buy this i would want change from 100 quid. i don't know the spares situation in the UK but it could be a 1 crash and bin job.

              cheers

no - i've not decided... well, i really want a concept 60 SR II and i did tell my friend i would buy it off him near xmas when i have more money... (but i was actually disappointed that it had rusts on the metal parts as i know he's not flown it much - he only hovers his helis as he hasn't really progressed to forward flights)

i'll have to continue looking for a concept 60 SR then.
and no, i wont be flying it too much - it's more a sentimental value that i want one. i'll probably just put it on display rather than fly it.

Erm no....none of em are for sale......been offered stupid money for the SR II and still declined. It has sentimental value I guess.

I had a spare OS 61 kicking around when I got the Raptor...There is not alot left from the original, see here.......... Raptor 60 V2

The Concepts are ok but damn they are heavy!!!! Parts are like rocking horse poo.

The SR 2 heads have to be built very precisely or they are just poo to fly.

I take mine out once every few months as to be honest they are to tame for my liking.

                    Hi

I had a lot of experience with Kyosho heli's back in the day and they were the market leader for several years but that was a long time back.
Ask yourself this, how much would you pay for a 1993 computer, heli's have advanced at a similar rate so a 1993 heli is about as practical as a 1993 PC.

If you really want one then get one by all means but it's certainly not worth that much in my opinion.

                    Cheers

Got both of those and an SRX......If I stuffed one would I repair it???? Probably not. They are just there for nostalga really...... I wouldn't pay much money for one but as I learnt on Kyosho's I have always had loads of spares.

I tend to hoarde heli's and never sell em thus the silly collection.

Certainly wouldn't go out n buy em now a days.
