  • Concept 30 DX SR-T hybrid lives.... :-)

First pics of the hybrid heli made up of all the best parts of Danch's old SR-T heli and the "dooerupper" from SteveH39

Has the longer SR-T boom in blue anodised finish along with matching skids and 12mm root Ripmax carbon blades with suitable grips replacing the stock 8mm root wooden blades.

Had her running pinned down to the grass with tent pegs to tune the engine and she's sweet as a nut. Also tethered on a short heavy gauge string and hopped a little off the ground. Enough for tonight. Will recheck all nuts and bolts etc. and play more tomorrow. Beaten by darkness tonight LOL.

Now there is some good memories

I even remember the old JR Apex radio sets having used them myself when I first started to fly.

Had great fun building the heli and am looking forward to flying her. Will be getting a nice 2.4 Gig set for my new Raptor 30 - especially when it's in my Airwolf fuse....

Brings a tear to my eye

Glad the engines ok though, not run for ages and expected bearings to be ******* atleast. The old ASP engine (ABC i think) had good compression though and fitted with an OS 32 carb so should run a treat.

What fuel you running through it? i have some 5% coolpower never opened that you can have for £10 next time your this way on if you like?

The ASP 32 / OS 32 carb combination works really well. Seems to produce copious amounts of torque.

Running on 10% as that's what I bought for the MDS - runs sweet as a nut. I'll have the 5% off you though Steve. Won't be around until Sept though as off to the USA on holiday any day now. Will be putting my application in for the club before I go though :-)

Minor technical issue tonight - started her up and hadn't noted that number 2 son had flicked the "Hold" switch on the Tx the little bugger - he'd been playing with the Tx whilst I was putting the fuel in and I just visually checked the trims for foul play!

She started at part throttle and as the rotors were held still, stripped a tooth off the main rotor drive gear. Luckily I had 2 spares so swapped that out - managed to just release the top airframe screws and the engine mount which is enough to wiggle the main shaft free and remove / install the drive gear. All reassembled ready for after the weekend - can't play this Sunday as it's number 2 son's 5th birthday so will be bringing Claire and the girls down from the midlands to Essex and then back up in the evening so I can come back Monday morning for work in Essex! Looking forward to when Claire is off her bloody migraine tablets and can drive again!!!!!

All's well that ends well and I've learned an easy maintenance method which you could perform easily at the field if the need arose!
