who's flying a chase 360?

Who's flying a chase 360? I'm replacing my 450 pro and am considering the chase 360 as it's replacement.

How do they fly and are they reliable.

Any feed back would be much appreciated.

I don't think I'd have another one, KDS just seem unable to make two parts the same. It's a shame as it's a great heli, just with a bad manufacturer.

I'm sure a few guys on here will disagree as they seem to get on with them though

I've followed the Chase 360 from the beginning.

To me, it seems like you either get a good one, and you're ecstatic and it's awesome, or, you get a bad one, and you'll never go near another KDS product.

I personally wouldn't buy one because of that, but I'm happy with my X3 anyway.

Another awesome one here, no problems with it at all. The design is fantastic, really something unique. I've had non of the quality issues I hear people talking about, in fact quite the opposite the component quality and finish is top notch. I was actually expecting it to be tricky to get running smoothly after some of the comments I'd heard but I just put it together and flew it. I've not had to make a single adjustment and it's one of the smoothest and quietest running heli I've got, certainly better than any other of a similar size I've seen.

I understand that there were some issues on the early kits but KDS are now up to version 3 and if mines anything to go by all issues are solved.

Well that's two good and two bad experiences.
I also really like the look of the chase, it's a great looking bit if kit but it does concern me a little with the quality problems.
The x3 looks reliable but just not as good a heli, however the spares support looks a little better although stock of some items looks low.

What setups are you guys running in the chase?

I'm still undecided.

Stock motor tgy306s on cyclic and ds95i on tail.. hobbyking 50amp esc and robird g31 fbl.. it's got the best tail on my fleet, I have the 5.5 and the 7.2..super quiet..especially if you stick in a 3s pack for some gentle circuits to ease down at the end of the day..

Purely on looks, I know the plastics functional but I just like the all metal parts. The battery tray on the chase is also a great feature.

Have you any upgrades on your x3? And what servos are you running?

Upgrades wise, I only have the metal lower bearing block.

Other than that, it's just tail blades, as the stock ones aren't very good until the RPM gets high. I only run 3000RPM and Edge 60mm tail blades hold great.

For servos, I'm running TGY-306G HV on the cyclic, and MKS DS95i on the tail.
In all honestly, I'd go for those servos (or the KST equivalents) on any 450. They're awesome. Tail wise, I'd go MKS again. Either the DS93i HV, or the MKS 8910A+ for a mini servo.

Love my Chase.

The tail is a little weird. To stop it binding I had to avoid tightening the screws into the blade grips completely (relying on the loctite) and be careful when tightening the screws holding the arm mount onto the boom. After that it's been perfect (80+ hard flights, one crash).

Personally I think the Chase better than the X3. It's got all-alu main grips which have less play in them (then again, you can get alu grips for the X3 and play can be due to bearings). Also the X3 uses a lot of tiny screws which strip easily, and if you use the belt boom there is nothing other than these little screws to clamp the boom properly (many people end up using a second clamp; I put some tape around the boom to make it fatter).

The Chase has more battery room (the X3 won't easily fit Gens Ace 1.6Ah packs while the Chase will easily, and more).

The Chase is also incredibly tough. I had a hard crash breaking all four blades off near the root. What airframe damage is there? The bar in one landing skid broke (leaving the struts) and the bearings in one main grip are slightly loose. And of the boom supports came off, but that's my fault for using too short a bolt (I don't think they supply the right bolt if you want to attach the boom support to the landing gear mounting; you could of course not use the supports at all on this heli). I just put new blades on and flew it again.

What else? Oh, quiet and you don't grind main gears up when crashing.

+1 on the TGY-306G-HV servos. They're excellent quality and a great price too. Saves a lot of money on a build with no compromise in performance.

What might explain the difference in experience is the version of the Chase 360 people have owned. The current kit is 'version 3' and has several changes that address the early production problems. Possibly those with bad experience had those early kits?

Metal = weight. Not good on such a small heli.

The X3 has a clip-in battery tray system too. FWIW, I've seen two Chase 360's "in the flesh" so to speak. I chose an X3 which tells you my thoughts on the matter The Chase is just a bit over-engineering IMO for a 450. I've read about too many issues with that motor belt too.
