i think thats what will happen
hit rescue to try and save the heli from a crash even if the system has no chance of sorting it out

myself i hit hold and if the heli's go no chance of autoing unbroken i hit engine cut aswell
i can't hit rescue mode as i don't have one

If it had been a few seconds earlier when I was flying toward us it could have been a lot different??
You'd think there would be a notice on their website : Agile-Helicopter, Helicopter R/c Designed For Competition ... but no..

There's is an option to sign up for their newsletter there. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they might have published something in their newsletter?

Should be something on their main website though I think - especially for a potential safety issue.

I have programmed myself to hit BO for ages now and have not crashed even though Im pushing harder. TBH i don't use it that often as knowing its there gives me the confidence to try and get out myself but here I just hit hold without thinking. It was the right thing to do in the situation and I don't know why I hit hold rather than BO. It just happened and Im glad I didn't try to BO.

Like said I will test to see what happens in BO while piroing fast and stationary. Then vertical. I have used it while doing piroflips but I stop piroing when I hit BO so its not the same. Will keep it going and see how it copes. Will make for an interesting test.

You can't replicate that situation though Ben. If you start pirouetting and hit BO - it'll sort it because the tail is still working. In the real scenario though when the tail is lost - the only way to slow or stop the pirouette is to remove the torque from the equation - ie. kill the motor. Hitting BO would probably have been quite disastrous I think ...

I think rather than use the bail out/ captain rescue mode the self level would be more useful in this situation - heres an interesting read: My rescue story - HeliFreak

Carrying on from the above and having spoke with Joachim on what I should have done his reply was to use the self level and then hit hold so you get the tail back and can auto down normally. So at least I know for next time.

Anyway, back to rebuilding the Agile. The only thing I don't have is the new tail part and its on its way which will prevent this issue from happening again
