I not got it out the car yet but from the few mins I spent looking at it at the field it looks like the pin that goes through the tail output shaft gear had gone so it was spinning the gear on the shaft.

I will look later, vid uploading now.

The thing is, if you lose tail control completely you can hit TH but still have no effective way to stop it pirouetting. What does the bail-out do in the event of a total tail failure?

I don't know thats why I didn't hit it. To close to experiment to see.

I will try when its back in the air, piroing bailout and see so I know for future reference.

Its saved me soo many time but I wasn't going to chance it.

Would be good for you to let us know what the full list of broken helicopter bits is when you get the chance Ben. Will be interesting to see what actually got broken, bent and had to be replaced in the end.

Not necessarily. If you have mechanical tail failure, the rescue mode is just as incapable of stopping the pirouette. Without being able to apply anti-torque to the tail, the blades probably won't have enough airspeed to keep the heli in the air. So "rescue mode" will possibly just send the heli into the ground under full power.

good call hitting hold not the bail out in that situation it meant the model going in but was the safest option considering where it was...I wondered what had happened did not realise you had lost the tail...if the heli had been further out in the middle of the field the outcome may have been different...

Must be a day for losing tail drive today, G's Faifa did the same however to a much more frutuitois conclusion a perfect auto.
