TDR motor help and head play.

Hi all I've just got myself a TDR 2012 and was after a bit of help with the motor, I have a scorpion next D and a scorpion 130 esc that I was going to use but want to have a mix of slow and fast head speeds, I still could get a kontronic 700 to go in it ?? I also have a selection of thunder power 5000 6s packs that I was going to use, but in the instructions Jan recommends 3700. They are Aprox 70 grams a pack lighter so is it worth picking up lighter packs for it. The other thing there is some play in the head is this normal I expected the o rings to give a soft feel before it went ridgid but it's like something is worn but it's only done five flights by the previous owner, thanks in advance for your time to read this and any replies given.

Yes a Pyro 700 will go in no problem and also the 750 range, I ran mine on 5000 6s packs with no issue at all and flight times were superb at a 1400 head speed. Yes you can run smaller packs but flight times will be shorter. With regards head play you can buy different o rings and dampers etc. Standard are black I believe and there should be a certain amount of play. You can tighten it up using white dampers and red o rings for running high head speeds etc. I would imaging after only a few flights the existing ones should be fine but its worth stripping it apart to make sure there in correctly.

The head is the teetering head with the black dampers Jason. I thought the same thing when I got it but was told that this is normal but if you want the rigid head (hard 3D and speed) to put the white dampers in it...700-52 Pyro till sat on my desk waiting for a new home......

I run 6s 5000's and 7s 5000's

As for the head I think the solid head and bushes etc is much better.

Hi Thanks for the replies it states in the manual approx 5mm play at the blade tip mine has 15mm up and down at the blade tip without flexing the blade this seems way too much ?? I have stripped the head and the play is in the middle of the black bushes to the feathering shaft ??

The larger bore in the black damper allows the teetering, it depends on head speed and type of flying that you plan to do.
Best to try first .
See manual for additional shims for movement in grips on feathering shaft I had to add them after dampers settled in.
wlth the black dampers blades had a bout 15mm movement.
