  • TDR / Pyro 750 / Pinion / Dazza going mad

Hopefully some can answer what is probably a "blond moment" question...

i'm struggling with getting the 13T pinion to line up with the main gear (bottom of pinion level with bottom of main gear). On the 700-52 you used shims below and above to get the pinion right and remove any play between counter bearing.

However, the bottom of the shaft on the 750-56 is quite recessed, so if the pinion is sat on the bottom of the shaft its too low, and if you use a shim it sits too high due to the slant in the shaft where it goes from 10mm to 6mm - if this makes sense..

So how have you adjusted the height of your pinion?

    ...going slightly mad...

    Thanks in advanced

    Dazza

i just had a quick look at manual, and come across this may help

The pinion is manufactured with a countersink in such a way that it can be used for a continuous 6mm shaft (Pyro) and for

the Scorpion shaft 8mm to 6mm or 10mm to 6mm as well. Between the pinion and the motor bearing a 0.5mm thick washer
has to be used. Different types of 0.5mm thick washers 6mm, 8mm and 10mm are included in the bag (Motor fastening )
Attention! On the Scorpion motor at first the c-clip of the shaft has to be removed. You will not need it anymore because the
pinon will keep the shaft in the right position later (look also at the detailed description on the next page).
At first the pinion 0706 has to be mounted provisionally on the shaft using a suitable spacer washer. Tighten the grub screw

This might be too late of a reply to do any good, but I have that same motor/pinion combo on my TDR. I did away with the counterbearing. The housing is still there, but the bearing itself is not installed.

Per Jan- the motors with larger motor shafts internally (Pyro 750 is 8mm, machined down to 6mm) do not need the counterbearing and they actually benefit from not having it as it reduces heat.

I would remove the bearing, no issues with the shims and go have fun!
