  • Best head speed for Vision Comp

What sort of head speeds are people running their Comps at ??. I'm going to have another go at setting up my revlock 30 as I've never been happy with it. Flying on Weds, it constantly seems to be pulling the rev's back to far, I'm not sure if it's something I've done wrong, or if I'm not running the OS50 Hyper at high enough governed revs ??

Also ended up stripping the entire clutch stack. Started of just wanting to change the starter cup, but noticed the bearings were spinning in the bearing blocks again which has worn them down. Luckily I took another set from my spare kit, but this is the second time this has happened.
    Cheers,
    Simon

Have you tried adjusting the gain? I had to tweek mine up a little to get it to hold nice.

Just seen that, to be honest I've never notcied it before. It's at the 12 o'clock position at the moment (not touched it from the factory setting). When you say tweaked, how much are we talking about ??
      Cheers,

Its not a lot !!! mines just past 12 and not quite 1
Its a dam fine adjustment. Less and it would bog and hang at the top of a loop.
More to keep the head speed but it will start to hunt

Cheers mate, will give it a tweak. So if it starts to hunt, I've gone a bit to far then ?

With the gear ratio, that means setting the governor to keep the motor around 19k to get a 2200 head speed ??. I've been running mine around 17k which is a big difference. Just checked my set up again and everything is set per the manual. I've increased the range to 18500, and moved the gain slightly past the 12 o'clock position. Hopefully try again on Sunday.
                Cheers,

IIRC, I've got mine at around 1600 in normal, at 1850 ish in idle 1/2

Being light, these visions will happily fly in low RPM

I think it's the gain which is causing my problems, will have a play on Sunday and report back. Never really had the Revlock working the way I wanted, only ever used Align governors previously, which have always done the job.
                      Cheers,

I had to read it a couple times to get my head round it and set it up with the gyro menu.

i got mine running around the 2050rpm mark in lower headspeed but in balls out its around 2100-2200rpm i think, whatever it is it runs ok and has oodles of power

simon. If you dont know already, but you need to put a smear of bearing retainer on the inside of the bearing block to stop them spinning and wearing down the block. I use loctite 641. put smear round inside block then drop bearing in.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Are you using the default 8.5 as the gear ratio? So say you want 2000RPM, multiply that 8.5 and thats the engine RPM you want to aim for.

Just wasn't sure if the default 8.5 was the correct ratio for this model.
