  • Very notchy motor MCPX (new heli)

Hi folks, a mate has just got a MCPX mk2, so I had a look before i finished work this morning. The motor/main gear felt very stiff and notchy as I turned the rotor. Didn't seem right as my NAno and 130x are so smooth. So I took the main gear off, and the motor alone is very notchy and stiff, is this normal?

As he hasn't got a tx yet, I bound it to my DX6i and tried it, yes it flies, bit slowed than a Nano, but after a few seconds there seems to be some vibration, we guessed from the motor.

It is a new one so if its a bad one he can send it back...

    Thanks for opinions and help

    Alan

Hi, I've got the same mcpx, mine was like that when it was new, still is slightly bit not as bad. I think its normal for them to be like that.

Mine was like that when new as well....don't think it os anything to worry about. Just occasionally check themain gear is pushed up as it slides down, mostly during 'hard landings'

Vibration was either bent feathering shaft, bent main shaft, bent/ damaged blades, or main gear needs pushing right up onto frame.

It might be worth also checking the motor pinion isn't too tight against the main gear. Slacken off the two mount screws and tweak motor slightly away from main gear.

I unpacked my new Mcpx v2 on Thursday mate, exactly the same. Must be standard.

Try some silicone lubricant. That's what I did and the notchyness went right down to very little! Very smooth now, nothing like the nano or 130x but way better than normal!
