Haha that is brilliant, the guy seems really funny, who is he?

Kinda reminds me how I first started, I got frustrated with my first new heli, it was like the walls were massive magnets, and had bought every spare blade grip in the UK, so I tied the skids down to a mouse mat, it gave me a chance to learn the little right cyclic flick on take off.

Wouldn't the easiest way of learning to hover inverted without rigging all that kerfuffle from your washing line so you dont have to worry about pitch, be to use the inverted hover training facility in Phoenix???

I've learnt (still learning) by practicing over grass and hitting throttle hold before (and sometimes after) it pile drives into the ground...after all the mCPX is a real life sim

Now, after reading around this alot it seems that height (3 mistakes high) helps in the process - trouble is, at my age, at any thing over a few feet I struggle to see what the heck is going on.

So I needed a failsafe method of learning inverted hover flight but at a height of only a few inches of the ground, as per with the training gear when "verted".

I guess I should say now - DONT TRY THIS AT HOME it's probably not safe, possibly against some law or other and what follows is really only for information only.

This is how I achieved it:

        You need:

        1 MCPX
        1 Rotary washing line
        1.5m length 15lb fishing line

        Method :

        Tie fishing line to skids
Tie loop in other end of fishing line
Pass this loop over one end of rotary washing line
Let MCPX hang upside down on fishing line
Adjust things so that MCPX is 6 inches (thats 150mm for younger readers) from ground and hanging levelish

        Adjust tx settings:

        DX6i
        Normal Pitch curve
        50 50 50 50 50

        Stunt Pitch curve
        0 25 50 50 50

        Normal throttle curve
        0 50 100 100 100

        Stunt throttle curve
        100 100 100 100 100

Now Load up battery, initilise and let MCPX just hang there.

        Stand well (ish) back!

Spool up to mid stick position and flick into Idle up.

Practice inverted hover 6" off ground with no chance of ever hitting it!

Of course, no one else would ever be so stupid as to try this!
Please god! - post a video of that! I'd love to see it!

I had mine inverted for the first time yesterday, I just rolled in nicely into it but I'm also finding my making cognitive errors a problem but I've yet to damage it when I crash inverted after hitting throttle hold. Actually I finally broke my original canopy yesterday. I failed to notice a second canopy mount had broken and the canopy slipped into the blades whilst inverted. Oops!!! Now using the printed canopy with a new frame on order!
