  • Mcpx clockwise tick

Now I don't know if this is because the 130x is out soon and I'm building up to justifying one, but my mcpx has developed a clockwise wag/tick in hover. Can trim it out but when flying it just spazzes out spins 90 or more degrees and throws itself on the deck. I have gone back to the standard motor as the brushless was smashing it to bits when it had a moment and it's not as bad (I guess because there's less head speed?) I've checked everything and it still ticks. Cleaned servos, replaced tail boom and tail motor and tail mounts, changed blades, checked feathering and main shaft. Replaced main gear, servo push rods, re bound TX etc etc.

Anyone have any experience of this? Think it might be the main board (again)??

Try a new tail rotor if you have one?

    Your one might be distorted.

Mine does a similar thing...will be flying it in a straight line and then for no apparent reason the tail kicks out clockwise anywhere from 45 to 90 degrees. I've replaced the tail but thought it might be a loose connection but sounds like it might not be?

I've had this a few times and it has always ended up being power related, either loose wire or broken pin in main battery plug or on the tail plug.
Give them a good tug and see if they are loose as they can look fine but be hiding problems under the heat shrink.

You need to re-bind, happens more often when running brushless.

                It's almost always vibration related.

Usually it's the main shaft or main gear - try replacing both. Plenty of posts on the freak about the same thing.

For me it was the main shaft - it had subtley cracked under the hub.

Ok guys update. Replaced tail rotor as suggested, mine had a small nick on the corner, changed the main blades too, things were better but still there. Reduced the length of my tail boom so ive got 15mm between the main rotor and tail giving me a boom length of 135mm (I think I'd gone a bit mad with the extension!), again slightly better. Held heli in my hand and spooled up to full power and "gave it beans" in all directions and it seemed ok. Went for a re-bind to be thorough and now it's fooked! Took four attempts to bind it because the 3 in 1 would flash 2 or 3 times with no power. Finally got it to bind now it just drops out of the air and 3 in 1 flashes 3 times. Think it might be time to ring Horizon Hobby!

It is a known fault, but not sure HH have admitted that. There is a thread on another forum with many people talking about the same fault.
Mine only does it when I run dual tail motors, clockwise is a boost in power, not a drop.
Mine is better when there is no vibration but still occasionally it happens.

If it's a "clockwise" tick, surely it should be a tick tock ? You're better than you think dude ! Ho hum. Anyway mine is used only for gentle zipping about and it would often kick out for no apparent reason. Holding the head tight and turning the drive gear showed a very fine split in the shaft just above the top bearing, put some cyano in this, none in the bearing for a change and it seems to have cured it. Now that I've said that, next time out it'll kick out non stop I s'pose.

                          Hi Cagey,
Checked main shaft, all okay. Think it's an issue with the 3 in 1 now its cutting out mid air. Tried different batteries and main motor, re bound loads of times and it still does it. Going to send it back to Horizon Hobby before it cuts out and smashes itself to bits!

Hi Rob - Had the same mate, I think mine calmed down a bit when I replaced the feathering shaft, it was bent, but you have already checked that. Hope you find a fix I now how annoying it is. Thread is here with some further info.....

Hey rob I had same issue after replacing boom believe it was a bad connection on the tail plug. Managed to sort that but now having the cut out issue when at full throttle and full +pitch. Going to do a full service soon to see if I can sort it out but let us know what HH say
