Ok working on mod now and also putting on a new skid with boom support... Is the boom support a good idea or should I leave it off? Asking as will need to fit it over the tail wires... Ie boom then wires then some heat shrink then the boom support bracket... Will that work?Charles - Align 500EFL Pro - Blade 130x - Blade mCPx v2 - Spektrum DX6i & Phoenix Sim

Looking good Gecko, but I'd tidy those wires up round the tail, get them round the back of the tail fin.
I know you might not want to hear this but that nice looking carbon fibre tail fin you have is made of cheese. I have one and have broken it three times. I've taken it off now which is a bit frustrating as it looks a treat.

Oh geez took it out in the wind today after two batteries I was loving the ability to fly if fairly gusty situations.... And then it just went nuts!!!
The tail kept kicking out, I think the motor was coming out of the motor mount but doesn't matter as came crashing down!!! Skids broken!!!
I could do a repair but any suggestions on glue for carbon fibre.. Link please.
Also any suggestions on a motor mount?Charles - Align 500EFL Pro - Blade 130x - Blade mCPx v2 - Spektrum DX6i & Phoenix Sim

OK, just done in my first - and certainly not my last - boom.
Thanks for all the advice above. So far, I have bought a new boom/motor assembly so I can simply plug that in again and fly. The plan is then to buy some carbon rod and replace the boom with original parts so I have a spare.
Things to remember? 1) Watch the wire insulation. Heatshrink. 2) File a D on the boom to stop rotation. 3)Take wires out of the motor mount hole and resolder the motor back on.
Varying advice above about the boom length. Original is 125mm and it's a V2. Is it worth lengthening it? Reckon I'll keep it standard for the time being.
All the bestHappy Landings.

Sweet !
Bought some 2mm rod. Tight enough in the motor mount & frame not to need a D carving in it.
I wasn't confident enough to de-solder either the plug or motor so cut the wires where I had accidentally taken off some enamel and re-soldered there.
Some light insulation tape around the boom in a couple of places and JOB DONE.
Skittish little beasts aren't they?Happy Landings.
