  • Servo Problem?

    In need of Help !!

Last Friday I was flying and lost power, not sure why - it was cold. Luckily from not that high 15ft say. Heli landed tail in, into the snow. Got the throttle hold on before it hit.

Checked it over seemed ok - After this it started to do some 30-45 degree uncommanded piros so called it a day. Decided to do a quick flight in the lounge and this is when all hell broke loose. I had to go away for the weekend and have just come back and had a look at the problems.

It seems as if the rear servo is way too low. Swashplate is tilting backwards. I've powered it up with the blades off and more worryingly is that just below mid stick the blue led has cut out briefly (lost bind?), out of about 7 spool ups. I have checked the battery connectors on both ends seems fine!

I have created a new model on the transmitter and rebound with factory settings. Also checked the main gear and other bits. I have not yet taken the servo off.

To give you an idea of the swash tilt and the servo position there are a couple of photos below. Anything else I can try or is it a case of a phonecall to HH ?

I suppose I can subtrim the servo on the 6i, or alter the servo arm length. Do you think it has just slipped on the gears? Not to sure about doing this though with the flybarless system......??

Thanks in advance for any help - no subtrim btw / all trims neutral.

You can swop things around to find out where the fault is. The servo may also be loose or there could be dirt between the metal slider and the track on the board. I'd swop the rear servo with one of the others to see if the servo is getting the right input and going to the wrong position or getting the wrong input from the rx/computer. Have a good look at all the connections and the soldering on the board, it could be a bad joint. The other possibility is that it's the tx. Check the movement on the monitor screen. If possible try another tx. Don't do too much though as you should be covered by your guarantee.

Thanks for the reply. I called HH earlier today, spoke to a nice chap there who seemed to think that it was a FET on the servo.

They have asked me to post it back tomorrow for them to look at. Unfortunately I can't drop it around there (in the area tomorrow) as they only accept posted items.

I will check the tx monitoring though before hand. Might even take the servo out tomorrow - like you said don't want to do to much though.

      Board and connections look fine.

I have dropped off my mCPX at HH in Harlow before and collected it again a couple of days later after they called to say that it was ready. That was for a dodgy servo which they replaced. What they would not agree to unfortunately was to look at it while I waited.

They replaced a servo for me before as well.

Might be worth your while buying a spare one on ebay ready to fit in when one goes again so there is no down time.

I posted the Heli to HH on Tuesday morning. They received it Wednesday morning. I received it back this morning.

easily contactable, 24hr turnaround!, very good customer service, really impressed all around tbh

It was a shot rear servo, which has now been replaced. Have yet to test fly as again away for the weekend, so will have to wait until Sunday now.

Was thinking about buying some spares, but at that price its worth the postage if HH are willing to replace.
