Are there any upgrade skids for the mCPX that are worth buying
Got mine today and they certainly look and feel tough. Have you seen the video on YouTube where someone runs over the skids with his car and they come through with flying colours
Where is the video as i have not seen it, mind you i am not surprised as i have also done the test with Richards skids and flattened them out and just put them back in shape so i know his skids are brilliant and the set i flattened are in the picture.
Rich, my skids are great - however I've received 8 sets now?!??! Can you pm me a return address for the spares?
Only comments I have on the ones for the 300s is that the battery slides around a bit - however, I've found that with persuasion you can actualy get the black battery collar to "snap in" to the hole In the skid an then it's in there solid as a rock! So very happy there.
Haven't tested the ones for me brushless one yet as I've not broken the carbon ones yet somehow - but rest assured I will do soon! I'm not sure my overlander 550's will slide into them easily but they are a very fat battery - I might just need to shave a little off the skids themselves.
Very happy with them though. Would be awesome if we don't have to adjust the holes ourselves but I can live with that
Thanks again!

Smashed my little heli in to the ground several times, even knocked the skids clean off! Not a scratch! Airtime skids get my vote. These need to start going retail in some big shops.
KBDD have just released some skids, they are alot more robust that the stock ones and come in some fancy covers, give them ago i got some on my mcpx and so far they are holding up like a dream!
I am pretty disappointed with my mcpx experience so far. Since delivery a couple of weeks ago, I bust the stock original skids and a second set in quick succession. In both cases the pins broke off in the frame. I got the first bust pin out but couldn't get the second out and had to use a fine drill bit and ream it out by hand, so far so good. I got my set of Airtime skids and followed the fitting tips in the video. The rear pin fits snugly in the frame, but the front frame hole is slightly oversize now and the skid pin is a sloppy fit. So I guess I need to fit a new frame, but do I upgrade and if so, to which type? Also the Airtime frame is very fiddly to locate the battery in (using 250 and 300's), and impossible to lock into place, the black side lugs don't go through the frame. To cap it all the rear skid pin is failing. I noticed a hairline crack, which could have been caused by me, possibly not, whilst shaving the pin, as per video, to fit the frame hole. So guys, some advice please: Do I get a replacement stock frame and a second set of Airtime skids which need quite some adaptation to fit the frame and to get the battery to fit, or upgrade frame and skids to another system?

my frame is cracked around the pins so i just put a dab of hot glue to hold the frame and skids together and works well.
For the battery slot you can bend the front holder up for a tighter fit but agree that its a bt fidely. If you have the battery the right way around you can pull it back out the rear of the skids which is what I do for connecting and disconecting the power cable

sorry, do you mean you glue the skids into the frame? If so and they do break, how do you get them out of the frame. Newish to the hobby and never used hot glue any info please?

I just tried the KBD skids. Been using the stock skids for a bout a year without replacement (no joke despite numerous crashes). KBD set... broken within 3 days of flying - the front pin came off in the frame.
you should get yourself a hot glue gun from any hobby store check link below for ideas... Amazon.co.uk: hot glue gun
the gun heats the glue and you can just put a blop of it on the outside of the frame where the skid and posts meet rather than in the hole. If you ever need to take the skid off the bond is not that strong so you should be able to peel the glue off or even heat it up again if you need to.

With the beating most of us impose on these poor little heli's having alloy on them only adds to both weight and impact damage. The performance of these heli's are well within 95% of all pilots skills level so stock is best (in my opinion) plus, like me I had to ream out the old lug and that left the new one a bit sloppy so I simply attached a small strip of adhesive Velcro to the inside ofthe canopy and to the underside of the battery tray. Now there is no slop as the canopy hold everything in place. As 99% of the time the canopy isn’t removed anyway so it's has solved the problem completely.
The battery holder is really annoying me on the airtime skids its just too loose and if I bend the skid in to make it a tighter fit then I can't get the batt in without it peeling the stickers off the battery. Anyone with the same issue? Any clever fix?

adjust it to fit? you have to bend it to fit, its not that dificult just a bit of common sense. As for being awkward to fit, try fitting a set of extreme landing skids, harder and more fiddly than stripping and cleaning a servo!
Well problem solved! Or not! Skid broke today but will order another one as I still think these saved me loads more than the stock skids. Wondering how everyone else is doing with theirs now that they have been around for some time.
