  • mcpx tamed settings for indoor flying?

As per title, I really need to get my ass in gear and learn to fly I can hover n manage to do circuits on mcpx in summer. I can fly on the sim but fear of crashing and hurting people or animal is holding me back in flying my 450, I ain't touch jeli since July, guna go back to in door flying so I need really tame and slow settings for the mcpx to teach me to fly circuits and orientations, before I even try the trex 450 pro and trex 550e.

    Cheers guys

Try setting the travel adjust on the pitch so it just lifts & holds it's own weight, set this for the neg pitch as well,
keep the throttle so you have full revs at top stick,
Let us know if it helps

100% rates and 30% expo is what I use inside and out I have toned down the pitch a bit to stop the tail blowing out.

Yeah there isnt much more you can do to tame it down really, if you go too much on the expo it wont react quick enough when you need it to. The mcpx is the latest addition to my fleet and proberly the hardest heli to fly IMO

Just take it outside and fly it over grass. Chances of breaking it are fairly slim. They handle wind very well for their size, i must have crashed mine 15 or 20 times and i have only broke 1 link thats it. Dont be scared of it and just hot throttle cut if its going to go in. Great training aid. Turn your expo up 5 or 6% to tame it down

As a complete noobie to real heli (previously experience before the MCPX was an MSR) and the DX6i I've been playing around with settings whilst trying to master hovering. I finally settled on rates of 35% for Air/Elev with 0% (INH) expo. I found that low rates reduced the tendency for my over corrections to send it hurtling towards the nearest solid object at 200mph but retained enough control. I initially started with some Expo as well but took it out as it left it feeling sloppy. I think taking the rates down to 35% reduces the sensitivity of the stick enough for you to not need any Expo. These settings got me hovering tail in and not doing to badly with nose at 3 O Clock hovering.

I also played about with the throttle and pitch curves to stop we driving through the ceiling or floor (especially when I forget to hit throttle hold and zero the throttle when crashing), I went for only a little negative pitch (30% at L) and reduced the max positive pitch (80% at H). You might need to play with this a little if you go outside though, I found the little gusts of wind need a little more +ve and -ve pitch available.
