Servo Bearing Fail- MCPx

just stripped the elevator servo off my mcpx, the servo motor was spinning but no movement on the servo push rod, after a closer look the gears are OK, but the bearing behind the large gear on the worm drive part of the servo has a lot of play, so it oscillating and the gears are not meshing together.
has anyone else had this bearing fail?

I have had something similar with my elevator servo. At first I thought the brass nut at the top had moved, as others have reported but there is the same amount of thread showing as the other two servos. There is abot 1.5mm play, and the gears still engage ok. The bearing outer case sometimes becomes visible between the white plastic servo frame and the white plastic gear.When I try to turn the brass nut to take up the play, the gear seems to spin on the shaft so I can't tighten the nut. The brass nut appears to be threadlocked.I wonder whether the problems is that the gear is not gripping the shaft properly (perhaps split?) and is slipping down.I'm getting occasional vibes, and think this is the most likely cause.Don't want to spend £19 on a new servo. Any ideas?

You can buy just the replacement mechanics, you don't have to buy a whole new servo.
