During the snowy weather last year, we sold a lot of main boards than normal. I think a lot of people forgot that snow is wet! lol. It's a soft landing yes, but a wet one. They are NOT cheap so be careful. Saw the weather tonight and it looks like we could have some snow coming in on Friday!

        Good evening

We returned from our Christmas break a couple of days ago and I thought that I would offer my observation as into how the mcpx does in cold wintery conditions.

Let me begin by saying that I am extremely happy to had taken in with me. I had flown about 35-40 flights and I learnt a lot in the process. I will go as far as to say that it had been my best flying experience so far. I can fly fast figure 8's, stall turns, circuits and I even begun doing inverted stuff. Don't get me wrong, I am still pretty shaky when it comes to the fine detail but my flying has improved significantly thanks to many flights I had been able to put in.

However, it was not all that rosy. I had been flying the usual 4 minute flights and I could see the head speed drop about 2:30 on most flights and I had the LVC kick in twice. This wasn't so much of an issue with my style of flying but it certainly made it more difficult to do the basic 3D stuff which I begun learning as the heli lacked the power. Nevertheless, the heli was flyable albeit with less power. This only applied if I had reasonably warm batteries and heli to begin with. On the other hand, trying to fly with cold batteries and heli at about freezing temperature proved a disaster. Not only the power wasn't there at all but most importantly the whole FBL system failed and the heli spun around uncontrollably. Luckily, nothing happened apart of finishing off the already broken canopy.

To sum this all up I will say, yes, the mcpx can do winter flying if common sense is applied and batteries and heli kept reasonably worm.
