  • Servo problem

One of my servos no longer works.

When the heli is powered up the servo immediately runs straight to the end of its travel and does not respond to the controls. It does this whatever channel it is plugged into so it is definitely a servo problem. I have cleaned the servo but it has made no difference. No obvious damage to the leads, connections, plug, the pickup 'fingers', tracks or the PCB. The FET looks normal too. When it is at the end of its travel it does not buzz as normal but it does resist efforts to move it by rotating the large gearweheel by hand.

Has anyone got any ideas about what else I can try before I buy a new servo and where I can get one in the UK ?

Try a rebind first but if that fails consider sending it back to HH, as it could be a fault on the 3:1 and not the servo.

It is the servo for certain. It acts the same way in all 3 servo sockets and the other 2 servos are OK in all 3 sockets.

I am not sure that HH will want to help as the heli has been modified (strengthened canopy mounts, solid tail boom and solid main shaft) and the canopy is pretty beaten up and repaired with tape showing evidence of use/abuse. I have also opened up the servo and cleaned the tracks which will be obvious when it is examined as it is too clean for 4 months use, but I will email them and see whether they will examine and possibly replace the servo on its own. My local model shop has contacted HH and apparently they (HH) do not have any servos in stock and do not expect any until the middle of December.

The servo was replaced free of charge by HH without a quibble. Excellent service.

A note on the service sheet said 'the model has been customised' by apart from that no comment
