  • Micro heli swash?

    Hi all,

I finally broke the rear ball link off my swashplate after an inverted crash.Just wondered if its worth buying the cnc swashplate from microheli instead of getting a standard swashplate and breaking the ball link off again?

    thanks

I have had a great experience with my mh swash... It's survived many crashes that broke the rear ball off the stock one.

However, this one just came out... Personally I'd go for this (not a fan of the blue though) as my experience with xtreme has always been exemplary.

Hi I have the micro heli one and its a lot better than stock but it does seem to leaving a lot of ally residue on the main shaft so somthing is wearing on it .The linked one does have a plastic bush in the centre so may be better or worse ?? I think the micro heli one is designed to run on a metal shaft but i could be wrong Cheers Jason

I think it's delrin in the middle, which is self lubricating - should wear very well.

On that subject then, how about the ally main shafts that are on sale? A worthwhile double upgrade?

I've got the microheli swash on mine. Couldn't get a standard one when I needed it so got this instead. I don't notice any difference to before.

I wouldn't bother with the alu shafts.... To easy to bend apparently.

Best thing you can do is buy some 3mm solid carbon rod and make your own solid main shaft - indestructible!

is this something others have done?

are there no holes to drill or flats to grind?

Others have done it, yes. Myself included!

You need to get yourself a little hobby file and a 1mm drill bit if you don't have those lying around. Just use the Old shaft for your dimensions and where to drill the holes etc. It's not difficult, and you'll have plenty of spare material if you muck up.

Once you get the hang of it, a 1m rod of 3mm CF will make you about 9-10 shafts for a whopping £2.99 or so.... but you won't ever need that many shafts because when you use solid CF it's very, very hard to damage.

EDIT - if it's more than you'd like to do yourself I found this guy selling main shafts... you can choose solid or hollow as you wish and he seems to have cheap international postage. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330588759843
