  • mCPX won't bind

I flew my mCP on my dx6i for a few days and everything seemed fine. Then one day it just sat there blinking its blue light at me. I tried to rebind, but it wouldn't. I've sent it to HH, and they sent it back saying it was fine. I rebound - and it worked! Once. After power cycling it, it's gone back to just blinking at me, and refuses to bind again.

I've run out of inspiration, any ideas?

Does it do the same if you try it under a new model memory may be worth a shot.

Yeah tried that ta (good idea though, hadn't thought of that before I sent it to HH the first time), and tried adjusting travel in case it wasn't seeing a low enough throttle value since not sure if TH engages correctly if you flick it on after beginning a bind. Didn't appear to have an effect though. Blinky blinky..

i had similar problems with two new ones and found that if you bind it then try n fly it wont work so switch heli on then your radio holding the bind button in until heli flashes twice let go of bind button then press bind button again twice.swash should go up n down then disconect heli turn radio off then switch heli back on then radio that should work

I've had a good play with it, heli on first, tx on first, multiple attempts to bind with heli staying on, starting heli while tx in bind mode.. I'm not quite sure I understand all of the procedure you outline actually - with a dx6i you can't re-enter bind mode like that. I guess you're talking about the bundled tx.

I've had some quirky binds in the past with Horizon BNF micros, but never like this..

I assume you are holding the trainer switch on whilst powering the Tx up? Sorry to do the old "suck eggs" bit, but just incase we as observers are making an assumption that you are

Only other thing I can think of is go through all the steps in the handbook again under a new model memory. I did this with my Dx6i and it worked like a charm.

Yup, trainer switch. Ok, you're right, time to do it completely by the book. But if my workmates have to listen to any more "beep beep beep <swear!> beep beep beep beep <bind you sod!> beep beep" then they'll probably stick my chopper in the bin when I'm not looking; so maybe I'll put that off until next lunch time

I guess the final solution would be to send heli + tx to HH, .. which would deprive me of some excellent flying opportunities, might cause all my model memories to get lost, and could just result in them sending both back to me saying "worked fine here"..

Do you know anyone else in your vicinity with a compatible Tx? Could set it up on theirs to see if it binds...? Or a friendly LHS?

You know, if there wasn't so much FUD about the dx8 around at the moment I'd use this as an excuse to just buy a new tx, whether it fixed the issue or not

Yup, will take it with me to the field on Saturday, see who's got a spare model memory!

connect the heli battery and wait for the light to start flashing....Then turn on the tansmitter with the bind button (in your case the trainer button) and wait. I have known it take in access of 15 seconds so am wondering if you are just not giving it enough time. Like someone said reset the memory and start from fresh. Try releasing the bind button after 5-10 seconds as sometimes it wont complete until you let go. Im sure it is ok as I have had no problems with the ones Ive sold...apart from the infamous blade grip problem at our indoor club on Wednesday night.

Yep that's exactly what I've done. I've tried it hundreds of times now, for between 2 seconds and several minutes at a time.

If I find I've been doing it systematically wrong all this time I'm going to eat my camera hat!

Argh! It just bound first time, bind held, tried rebinding, that worked too..

All it's done is sit on my shelf for a week and it's fixed itself!

Someone came in and picked it off the shelf, and said, "Haven't you fixed this yet?" .. to which I replied, "Look, I'll show you how it clearly doesn't work.."

I got the dx6 out, chose a new model memory, reset that model memory (just in case), set it to heli, and then bound it. And it worked straight away, which I think reinforced my colleague's opinion of my engineering clout.

I then changed the model memory back to the mCPX one that had never worked, and the thing bound to that too.

It previously worked exactly once since coming back from HH. I think the critical factor may be that it only works when it would be ironic.

Yep, it's definitely irony-dependant. Lost bind and refuses to bind again. Gah it's so boring sending stuff back to Horizon. I never used to keep the box things came in until I started buying stuff from them.
