  • How quick are HH?

I sent my MCPx BL off to HH on friday for them to have a look at, it's basically drifting backwards all the time and the tail wont hold anymore no matter what I do. Tried a solid boom, metal swash ( the Blade metal swash is rubbish BTW I'd avoid it ) new main and feathering shafts and nothing, then it decided to blow out completely anytime I flip it

Phoned HH and there was nobody who could help that could take my call so I was told to send it in for them to take a look at. So it's on route and should be there today, how long is it normally before you hear anything back?

If they need to replace parts and they are in stock, its a couple of days. If the parts are not in stock like when my 3in1 board went pop, it took 6 months (this was a couple of years ago mind).

OK well I got it back today. Yay I think.

Only no, they've had a look, put new blades on, jammed the solid tail boom into the frame so hard it's never going to be replacable, and said it's fine.

To be fair it doesn't now try to drift backwards. But the tail does what it likes still, In a hover it wanders with pitch a bit but not too bad, but still a 45deg movement with only minor pitch movements. But hit idle up and there we go, a slow pirouette counter clockwise which doesn't stop. Then get it down and try again and it goes 90 deg and then slowly comes back.

Phoned them again and it has to go back again

Sorry if this is teaching granny to suck eggs ... but have you checked your gain settings. The mCPX BL will take notice of gain if it's being broadcast from your TX when it's bound. The manual says to inhibit, but if you bind with gain enabled, the BL does actually take notice of it ...

I can't remember how it's set up at the minute, but it was fine and then started doing this so wouldn't think it was gain.

I don't have a BL anymore, but I did find that it was very sensitive to the tail boom not being held securely. The upgrade supports you can buy help, or I tended to use hot-glue around the boom to hold it still.

You'd be amazed just how bad the tail hold can get from an almost un-noticable movement in the tail boom.

Yeah I thought it was something like that, but it was solid.

I've sent it back to HH for them to have another look.

I've also just bought a new one as I wanted to make sure I have one for my holiday next week, and I figure I can use the old one for spares if needs be. Bound to the TX and it flies spot on, so it's definitely a problem with that heli.
