  • McPx Brushless - Total loss of tail after 2 minutes.

I've had my Mcpx brushless for a few times at it's flown ok for mainly 3 mins with one 4 minute flight. It has now started to go wrong. It loses all drive to the tail after about 2 mins of gentle forward flight and crashes. After examining it for a bit the tail recovers and it will work for about 30 secs on the ground at about 1/4 throttle until the tail fails again. It seems as though something is getting too hot but I don't understand why that has happened after ten flights. Is anything known about this fault, it has happened to other people? Can I fix it myself, or should I return it to the Model Shop in Slough or Horizon Hobby? The only damage seems to be a crack in the canopy. There are two black semiconductors piggybacked, that may have something to do with it, and the tail motor socket is no glued in straight, but at an angle , so that may be intermittent.

Personally, I'd send it back to HH. Whenever I've had problems with my micros, they've always fixed them FOC.

Thanks. I'd like to know if the piggypig things are anything to do with it. The one on the bottom is going to get hotter than the one on top. Someone added a memory chip heatsink that helped with a problem. If the heli was older I'd add some ali sheet to the bottom one, after measuring the temperature. I've not has this heli long and so I don't know much about known issues and workarounds.

I had the circuit board pack up on my 130x the other day. I sent it to Horizon with a nice letter. About 5 days later they sent me a new one FOC. Excellent service.

I've been told Slough RC are very good at exchanging faulty items, so I've sent them an email. I'll phone as well in the morning.
