  • Brand new Blade mCPX BL set up on DX6i wont take off

Hi, just got myself a brand new Blade mCPX BL and set it up with the setting in the manual for Spektrum DX6i. When I go to throttle up and can get to full throttle and the helicopter just sits on the ground with the blades turning very fast but not lifting the heli up.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I have set the helicopter up twice on the DX6i but still the same?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks in advance

A video would help but sounds like pitch curves and/or reverse

It sounds like your pitch is the wrong way round, so its giving you -ve pitch at full throttle, pushing the heli into the ground.

try reversing the pitch channel (6 i think on that) and trying again.

Check the main gear is fully home on the shaft.

Turn your throttle hold on so the motor doesnt run and check you have a good amount of positive pitch at top stick, sounds like insufficient pitch, or more likely as the others say - reversed pitch.

I think you have to reverse the pitch channel on the MCPX or it works backwards.

Here is a few photos of my DX6i set up and a photo of the heli with the throttle at mid stick.
Just charging the battery ( need to order more) once done I will try filming the heli when I throttle up.

Sorry about that. Took them on Ipad and they were up the right way on that. Transfer them to here and they are side.

As the folks above have said, check your pitch curves on your DX6i. If all is ok there, if you do a search there is a very useful method of setting blade pitch using cocktail sticks. I did this method on my MCPX V2, even I managed to get it bang on! Hope this helps mate.

Well tried it again today and still no joy. Think it's time to move on and bin that one. Get myself a different Blade heli and hope that is better.

Really!? You have a pitch issue which is almost certainly a setup problem, and you'll ditch the heli because of it?

Sorry - but this should be EASY to fix! Two things ...

1/. With throttle hold on, do you get positive pitch when you move the left stick up?
2/. Can the whole main shaft move/up down?

Do all 3 cyclic servos move together when you raise/ lower the left (pitch/ throttle) stick? If one is faulty or jamming then it won't lift!

I completely agree with Tom... this is a set-up issue... At the very least contact Horizon Hobbies who will repair or replace if faulty. If you're willing to give up that easily, you are not going to enjoy this hobby very much!!!

Right bud dont be so silly u gunna chuck a great bit of kit. If you cant spend the time to get this right you might aswell give it up. I spend more time fixing than i do flying. Can we have a pic of the heli head with the left stick it the top position and another with the left stick at bottom position clearly marked please.
