  • Long charging time

Has any experience long time for charging the battery?
For me it takes approx. 1 1/2 h to charge with original charger.

    Is that normal?

If you are running the battery until it dies each time then yes and the batteries will die sooner.

An average of 4 to 5 minutes flying time should take the battery to roughly 40-50% discharged, your recharge time will be less and your battery life will be longer.

      Hi,

I allways run until the heli switch off , that is normally, as you say, 4-5 minutes.

Which model, which batteries? Don't ever discharge LiPos until they're completely flat. It will ruin the battery and worst case, you risk a fire when recharging it.

I don't discharge the battery until total flat. Heli electronic switch off when running.

You can recharge lipos in about 10 mins. They will last longer than running them until the heli stops flying. They should end up at about 3.6V under load or 3.8V after recovery. The manufacturer's low voltage cutoff is not meant to be used every time.

Hi olleben, depending what charger you are using, when they balance charge they will start off charging at a high rate, then as the battery becomes near full the charger goes into a trickle mode so only charges at a very low rate, this can take ages to fill the last 1% of capacity. Might be an idea to get yourself a new charger, charging one at a time at hour and a half each is going to take you for ever.

You need a charger with a display to tell you what is going on. You don't have to charge a lipo until it is full. Just charge until the current drops to about 25% of the full value. The batteries are cheap and you really need four to six. Then by the time you've used them all you'll have some more ready. You can charge more than one at a time, either in series or parallel. The main thing is not to take out any more than 80%.
