  • mSR/ 120SR trimm issues after mainframe repair

    Hello guys!

I wonder if you could shed light into a mistery I am experiencing recently: I started flying helis a few weeks ago and just like everyone else, I have crashed them. I have managed to brake the mainframe of my Blade 120SR (at the batteryholder) and the back canope holder of my mSR. So I had to replace the mainframe on both of them which worked fine as far as I can tell. But I must do something wrong...

My 120SR flew fine for about 10min until I had another, minor crash. That one took out the antirotation collar. I replaced it but she still isn't flying propper. I can lift her up a few inches but she almost instantly start swinging out of control, wobbeling around all axis. She would crash badly in less then 5 seconds after lift off if I would raise her more than a few inches. What on earth happend there?

And as mentioned, I had to changed me mainframe of my mSR too. I left the servo hooks and the swashplate attached when I moved the circuit board across to the new mainframe. I thought not touching those would keep everything in check. But I was very wrong. When I lift her off the ground now, she is getting out of control to the left. So badly, that even full right stick doesnt help. I havent even bothered with subtrim, because I know something is seriously wrong with her. I just can't see what it is. Her drift to the left is so bad that she fells over if I start her up slowly.

Can anybody point me into the right direction as to what I am doing wrong when I have to replace a mainframe? And of course I would be very grateful if someone can explain to me how I can fix my problems. I assume that I can adjust the servo lenghts on the mSR to fix the problem? But how can they get out of balance if I never changed them from what they have been before? And what on earth can I do about the irratic movement on my 120SR?

Thanks a lot for any comments and help you can give me!

ive had the same with my 120sr
i think that the mainframe on 120sr is weak

Yes it sure is. Having the canope holder going through the junction of the battery holder and the main frame is just asking for trouble as the c-holder is taking the stress on an impact. And guess where this impact is going? As much as I like this heli, that is a design fault.

And that brings me back to my problem: So jamie, when you replaced the main frame of your 120SR, was there anything in particular you needed to be careful with? Something that I have missed which is causing me trouble now?

      Thanks!

I had a 120SR for 6months and regularly stripped the whole frame down and rebuilt it,with no problem.Have you checked your feathering shaft to make sure it hasn't been damaged during any crash.Take out and roll it over a piece of glass to see if it is bent. you can also check to see if the blades are out of true if you hold the heli and spin it up.

Have you checked that you haven't lost any of the ball joint linkages? Sounds suspiciously like that to me.

Thanks for your answers guys. I have not undone the whole build again to check if the main shaft is inline, but I spinned her up, holding her tight. At very, very low speed she seems to be a tiny bit wobbely, but as soon as I get anywhere half way near lift off speed, there is no sign of that anymore. She spinns stable and just fine. That is true for the flight bar as much as for the rotor. And I checked all the ball joint linkages. The ones between the rotor and the flight bar, the ones between the flight bar and the swash plate and those connecting the servos to the swash plate. All look fine to me. Am I missing something?

And as for the mSR... I can see that one servo is higher than the other. How can I adjust that? I can turn the arms further up or down, but why are they not level when I have not put any trim on them? Should they not both be at the same level?

Sorry, but I have nothing but questions. A typical newbie I guess
