  • MSR common problems?

Would it be helpful if the mods created a sticky thread, with common MSR problems, so we can list problems and hopefully solutions in one thread?

    What dya reckon?

Although I am a bit new to this helicopteristing malarkey the little mSR seems to be a big hit amongst micro-helis.

There are huge mSR threads on other fora and I think it will be around for a while.

On my screen, the title of this thread from the home page shows as:

        "Possible sticky - MSR..."

Now I know you guys love your mSRs, but making them sticky is just wrong on so many levels!

I thought you were asking for cleaning tips. I use baby wipes on my 600N!

Thought that I had finally stuffed my MSR last night had a bit of a hard crash which initially thought hard just fractured the landing skid, fixed that with CA and then had another fly and it was just going bananas.

Had another look having left it for a while and the swashplate had been dislodged, put it back where it should be and now flying fine. Note to self, always do as the manual says and check the swash after a heavy crash. (Mind you given the weight of the MSR can it actually have a heavy crash).

Other things that I usually check are:-
                  1. the anti-rotation collar spikes are in the correct place (these are what sit between the swash and the flybar and if loose will cause a lot of instability - I am going to fit teh micro heli upgrade when I get round to it that should sort it)
                  2. the Tail plane is not obstructing the tail rotor
                  3. Battery is seated correctly (often find is shifts back after a crash resulting in COG moviing to the rear)

Thought of a few other things
Some things in addition to the other posts I have found that cause issues.

Check the blades are reasonably free in the blade grips, should be able to swing when you turn the heli from side to side but not so loose that they flap.
Check the canopy is not binding the servo links.
Check that the tail rotor is vertical
Are the main blades in good nick, if not then replace them.
Make sure that the servos are in the correct place an gear/cog wheels are engaged properly

                  Hope one of these help
                  4. Presence of cobwebs/debris in any part of the head and on the tail rotor ( I have a tendancy to end up with heli behind the telly etc where such things can be picked up)
                  5. Landing skids are located correctly, again this can stuff up the COG.
                  6. If all else fails try rebinding your heli, have found this sorts things out though blowed is I know why.

Pico z * 2 (I know they arent 'proper' helis but they are to blame)
MCX - Got bored after a fairly short time.
MSR * 2 (my current favourite)
                  SR -as yet unflown

Is that like the mCX blades I paid for on Ebay and 3 weeks later you had to give me my money back because you did not have stock?

It would be helpful if you had a stock level on your site. The prices are one thing, but we need to know you have stock before we order bits.

A little tip to those of you that are new to the MSR is that the end cap of the tail motor can be pushed out if you crash heavily against the tail blade. The way it can be strengthened is to drip a spot of cyno on the cap where it joins the metal body of the motor, followed by using some heat shrink around the motor and allowing it to shrink around the end cap.

If anyone needs a picture of this, just ask, and i'll sort one out.

                              Cheers, Rob
