  • msrx darting right

Hi all fairly new to this so be gentle

I recently aquired a msrx and i am having an issue with it hopefully it will be down to my flying skilss rather than the heli.

Basically i get the rotors spinning and it starts to move right, not spin it stays straight (nose front) but snakes to the right. I can literally go around my square table by spinning the heli 45 degrees when i get to a corner.

If i go for a take off it darts to the right normally hitting something before i can react.

I normally connect the battery and put it on the table while it binds to the transmitter. Then attempt a flight, which always results in it moving sharply right.

I got the settings for my dx6i off google as they heli came with no instructions, could someone maybe put the settings that come in the manual on here please and maybe try and guess where i am going wrong?

    Thanks in advance

    Graeme

ps i can upload a video of what its doing if it helps

Hi Graeme, You should be able to download a copy of the manual for your MSRX, with settings for the DX6i from the Horizon Hobbies web site. Check to see that you have the right type of swashplate selected in your tx (90 degree single servo) and that your trims and sub trims are set to zero. If your transmitter is set up correctly, try putting your helicopter on a level surface and connecting the battery without moving the helicopter then once it has bound and whilst firmly holding it down by the skids (whilst keeping everything well clear of the rotor blades and tail blades) try increasing the throttle to see if the swash plate moves up level from lowest to highest throttle position. If the swash plate is tilting to the right (when viewed from the rear of the helicopter) it is most probably the right hand servo sticking due to dirt causing a bad connection between its internal tracks and slider. The linear servo's are similar to those used on the MCPx and other Blade micro helicopters and there are various video's on Youtube on how to strip and clean them. Sometimes it can be because the two white gears on the bottom of the servo are not meshed because the motor has been pushed up during a crash or because one of the gears has cracked and is not transferring drive to its shaft.

Hope this helps some but if you are still having problems a video would help.

DX6i settings for MSRX take no notice of the pitch curve settings they will make no differance at all.

Vid would definitely be useful! Odd that it's going right - left I would understand, but right is not normal...

Worth checking that the swashplate is level at rest too.

          thanks guys

i will give it a good going over tonight when i get home, one of the servos is making a constant high pitch noise though even when its on the table sitting there. I know they make noise when you move them but i didnt when they where still receiving no input

Check that the bottom of the servo has got the two white gears transferring movement from the servo motor to the arm. Compare both servos to ensure they're the same.

Often a linear servo will make a constant noise if the motor attempts to move the arm but it doesn't "see" a response on the actual slider. This is often caused by a missing gear or mis-aligned gear.

will check this later matey, thanks for your reply

it is a constant noise and when you adjust the swash it will make a different noise then settle back to the constant noise, until it is switched off
