First post - Newbie just bought CX3

Hi all,

Well I've just bought a CX3 last Saturday and Ive already managed to wreck it
front left skid is broken, main shaft a little bent and tail boom on main body has also broken although still holding together.

Oh well shape of things to come I guess

Obviously I need to get some replacement bits and bobs and I was thinking of getting some hardier skids and replacing the hughes body with
a sturdier carbon body and tail boom.

I've seen some of the offerings from various vendors, but what I'd like to hear is your opinions as to what I should go for.

Thanks for the welcome.

As the CX3 is essentially a CX2 (as I understand it) the upgrades or replacements will be CX2. That said have you replaced/upgraded anything on your CX2?

Hi and welcome aboard.
I'm relatively new and been there too with a CX2. I swapped it back for the MCX as I found it too big and brittle for flying in the house as a beginner. For what it's worth, I would suggest replacing the bits with the cheapest option for now and keep on trying. Alternatively, tape, heat shrink tube and glue can repair a lot of damage. Fly it "naked" if you have to. You'll soon get the hang of it - then you'll really start to max up the credit cards!

hi Bustskidz, I've been crashing a cx2 for a whiles now, I went for the Extreme skids and tail boom, a lot tougher than the bodywork on the standard cx2. Also went for the blade grips and blades too, as I was spending 20 quid a week on blades, then I found out I was replacing stripped out inner and outer shaft gears as I would've done blades, I figure the shock of a crash has to go somewhere, the Extreme blades fold on a strike, so guess where the shock loading is going to ? yup, you guessed it,,,so I've now reverted back to the standard Eflite carbon blades.
I would recommend the skids though, pretty tough, also, makes access to adjust the servo links a lot easier for trimming your heli up, dunno about the cx3 though, I guess you could get the Cx2 canopy to go with it ? (put a bit of expanding builders foam in the front of my canopys, then trimmed out with the dremmel, keeps 'em in one piece a lot longer )

well Ive just bought the boomtown carbon boom and ultra flex landing gear off of ebay for 20 quid.
All I need now is a cx2 battery cage and some sort of canopy.

I would like to hear what people think of getting alu upgraded shafts etc as Ive already managed to bend mine (although I seem to have straightened it out ?)

my experience would suggest you stay clear of the alloy Swash,mine fell apart after about two flights, the alloy lower blade hub is good, (snapped the blade pin of the o/e plastic one), the alloy upper bearing housing is also good, also, get y'self the heatsink, your motors will thank you for it
