  • Blade mCX mains charger - and hello.

    Greetings All.

    New person here.

I didn't really know where to put this post, as there's no specific one for the mCX. But mCX ownership often seems to go hand in hand with that of CX2 so ......

Seeing as I've been flying fixed wing models and skydiving out of full size stuff since 1980, my Missus thought it would be nice if Santa brought me a flying toy to play with at Christmas. Needless to say that BladeRunner Mosquito simply meant that within 30 minutes I just had to have something more challenging and I got a BladeZ 3D the day after Boxing Day........ then the CX2 arrived a week after that ....... with an mCX a couple of days after that ....... and now I can chuck the CX2 round satisfactorily, the Mini Titan in the shop is exercising serious wallet suck.

Anyway, I've been lurking around the forums here, and gleaned much useful info, (many thanks) and I thought it'd be nice if I tried to give something back.

So, this morning, my man at the local big-boy's toy-shop thrust a little £10 gem under my nose - a mains charger for two mCX batteries at a time! Beats the heck out of the countless AA's and increasing charging times. Brilliant! Plus he's doing the LiPo's at two for a tenner as well.

I've not put a link so you cynics out there don't read this as a blatant advert - but I live in Leeds so an intelligent Google should get you there if you are interested.

    And that's it really.

    Regards, Ro.

I've used these people before. Even cheaper. Not an Eflite battery though. Might work a bit better.

Yup - that's the people. Charger's a tenner less a penny and the LiPo's 8.99 for two. The batts seem to perform easily as well as the eFlite item.

While I'm here, who recommends which computer sim? And is a Mini Titan anyone's idea of a bad choice for my next machine?

I think you'll find Phoenix is pretty popular. I'm using version 1.05j as version 2 on my computer has a problem. They give free updates for life though. People have been selling them second hand recently. Best value for money in heli land. Can give you too much confidence when you fly the real thing, just means you should start carefully with a real heli.

I ordered my charger and 2 x batteries today from MSL, has to be much better than constantly buying batteries for the mcx charger.

Overland charger and cells for mcx

                      Hi Sneeks
Will be intereted to see how long the new cells take to charge.
I also bought the mains charger thinking that it would be much faster than the one in the kit. However, takes about 1 1/4 hours for two cells and I am being very careful not to over discharge during flights!
Out of interest please let us know your charge times once the bits arrive.
                      Cheers
                      John

Hmm. That's interesting. Some more tech details/pics would be nice.

Considering the well broadcast voodoo warnings about LiPo's dying when ill-treated,swelling,exploding and generally causing famine and wars with little provocation, I'd have thought your eyebrows would have been burnt off by now.

For the record re. charge times my mCX E-Flite LiPo's are taking about 35 minutes, two or one up, in an Overlander charger.

Hi I ‘v got the same twin charger and twin bat pack from the same shop, the charger take’s 45 minuets to charge the 2 batteries and in the MCX they last 1.5 minuets longer than the stock ones.

                            Regards Chris
