  • MCX Battery

    Hi all

My mCX battery is refusing to hold a charge now. I only bought the heli yesterday and have charged it maybe six times in total.

Those of you that have one will know that it should take 30-40 minutes from full discharge to charge the thing and as it gets near the full charge state, the red LED on the charger will begin to blink

Now, I can put it in the charger and after two hours the charger LED is still on and not blinking and the thing only gives me thirty seconds of flight time before it loses power.

The four AA batteries in the charger are brand new.

Any and all suggestions gratefully received please.

    Many thanks

Are you flying the mCX until the battery is completely flat, as that will kill the lipo pretty quick?

Is the charger light staying on when you remove the Lipo, as that would indicate dead charger batteries?

Its probably the charger batteries that are dead. mine did the same, changed them and they worked perfectly again!

The same happened with mine. I found that Duracells work well.

        Hope this helps

Thanks guys, i'll give it a go.

The charger light does stay on when I remove the lipo battery. In fact, it stays on if I remove two of the AAs in the back for some reason!

Mine does that when the charger batteries are dead.

Brand new batteries. literally brand new right out of the packet, and the charger light stay on when the lipo battery is removed. The only way to 'turn it off' is to remove the batteries it seems. No 'on/off' switch, which I find quite odd.

I was in SMC earlier I heard them order 20 of the Mains chargers and 100+ of the batteries but they all went on back order

Its defo the batteries that your putting into the back of the charger... some of them only last a few charges. A bit like digital cameras where you need high powered ones. Change them for descent ones or have a go at modifying the charger to run of a wall adapter
Theres videos/documentation on the internet on various forums how to do it.
                    Cheers

                          sorry forgot the link.
By the way you don't need to plug this into your PC you can charge using a mobile phone charger which uses USB , like the blackberry
